No, it isn't. The audiophile system uses premium speakers in addition to the sub. The head unit also gives you the choice of different settings such as jazz club, concert hall things like that. The audiophile is a real step up from the premium system.

I have an audiophile system and don't have options like that...or least have no idea how to choose those options.

There is no DSP (Concert, Jazz, Hall, Live) on the Audiophile system. The speakers and the sub are the differences between the Premium Audio and Audiophile on the Lariat trucks.

OOOPS! Looks like the system in my buddy's Explorer is different from what's in the F150. Sorry for the misinformation.

I'd hope the audiophile has tweeters, because my Lariat doesn't. It sure had me fooled until I did the LT handles and saw that there was nothing in the tweeter spot, and the door speakers had whizzer cones...but it doesn't sound half bad. Decent highs/mids/imaging. Makes me wonder what a set of Boston Pros 6.5s would sound with a modest sub setup amplified by about 800 RMS total.

Actually I don't believe the stock system has the ambiance feature as well as the setting for configuring the system depending upon the passengers (ie drivers seat, rear, all ). I'm not sure about the speed sensitive volume as that may be included in the standard system.

Yes, the audophile does have tweeters in the doors. The audiophile replaces the 6X8 door speakers with a 4" speaker that is mounted in a filler panel that includes a crossover for the tweeters. I've already replaced the tweeters and the crossovers with JL's which helped out highs greatly. IMO, the subwoofer is worth the extra money for the system as it sounds excellent.

Ford does some interesting things with radio combinations - depending on what's in the parts bin when the truck is being built. Both my brother and I have the Audiophile system in our '05 Lairat SCREW 4x4's.....and yet he has the "Preimum" sound system with the MP3 player and no "Ambience" feature (we compared them side-by-side), both have the 6 CD player (mine does not have the MP3 option), both have the sub, etc. Both had the tweeter set-up (which we replaced with Infinity Kappa's - hugh improvement in sound @ $99.00/pair).

Compared side by side - my "Non Preimum" Audiophile set up sounds better than his Preimum set up....we spent time with the same CD and played with the adjustments, etc. and both agreed - my stock set-up sounded like it had more power and more bass.....

My audiophile has adjustment for optimal sound in the drivers, all or rear seats. It also controls the DVD functions in my overhead dvd player.

The Audiophile additions are:
* Audiophile Equalized Radio - optimized for each cab style. Driver or all-seat EQ selectable
* Digital Signal Processing (DSP) ambiance. This feature gives the feeling of "being there" to your music, creating increased clarity as well as an open and spacious feel to the music
* Subwoofer with 90-watt external amplifier
* Audiophile 2-way speaker system - optimally placed midrange and tweeter in each front door
* Radio Broadcast Data System (RBDS) - the radio will decode the data stream broadcast by FM stations per the United States RBDS Standard from the National Association of Broadcasters. The radio supports:
- Show program service name
- Show format type
- Seek/scan for traffic program
- Seek/scan for format type
- Traffic announcement
- Emergency alert announcement

SteveVFX4, I just installed Audiophile system I bought from Ebay. I have noticed all the features you mention with the exception of the RBDS. How would I know if I have this feature?
