Tuner on a 4.6 ?

What type of gains would I see by adding a tuner on a 05, 4.6, scab.

Truck is stock, except for the silencer removed.

Thanks

Bill at Edge Products has worked with my 4.6L, and has been EXCELLENT!! I would highly recommend them. It all depends on what you are looking for out of a tuner. If you want the gauges, and are looking for something to bring out a little more in a daily driver, I would say look at the Edge Evolution. I have noticed an increase in fuel economy, shift firmness, and low-end torque.

you can see about 26 horses and about 45 ft/lbs of torque but thats on 93 octane you can see about half that on 87 and of coarse better shifting

Tuner makes lots of difference to a 4.6. I have used the Superchips and Diablo on my truck. All/any of the tuners are fine, and will really improve the feel of driving the truck.
The shift changes are nice, and even on 87 octane there is a real improvment in seat of the pants power. On 91-93 octane settings it is quite a bit better.

I think that is a generous number. I would like to see a dyno of a 4.6 with those kinds of gains.

There are oodles of options out there for you and I'd encourage you to look around and read the ongoing threads about all of the tuners...

The Edge recieves some good reviews but, has recently experienced several problems including no-starts and problems with updating the unit. Further, it seems like there's a new data set every other day -- not sure why but I'm sure there's a reason. All in all though, seems like several tend to like it.

Xcalibrator 2 -- another option. A bit more pricey and a bit more 'custom' versus that of the Edge. Owners of this one report huge gains and that they love it as well. Very few unsatisfied folks here -- but there are some so, it's important to note that not 'everyone' is happy... most though. Several folks can get you into this option if you're interested including some of f150online.com's Supporting Vendors.

There are others but, those are the main two that seem to be causing the most buzz across the boards. I'd HIGHLY encourage you to check out the Chips and Tuner's forum here at f150online.com so that you can read up on the pros and cons for all of them. Goodness knows that this has been a hot button item all the way across the boards here as of late.

Best of luck with your decision!
