Yes, I searched.... just couldn't find the answer right away and gave up

About to add power locks to my truck, and very briefly tried to look at the boot that goes from the cab to the door today. Is there a trick to getting the kick panel the hood release handle sticks out of out? I didn't want to break it, and thought I'd ask here first.

Do you have to take the handle off the hood release cable first, and if so, how? Or did I miss something very obvious when I looked (definitely possible).

I believe that there is a small cover plate behind the hood release that will allow the kick panal to pass. Should be u shaped
