Is my 05 screw a piece of junk?

To make a very long story short in the past month It is been at the dealer longer than in my driveway. One problem after another.

I have owned it a year. 5.4 with 12,700 miles on it. I am the only one that drives it. It is babied, and I dont tow any thing.

In the past month It has recieved -

*A new torque converter
*Fully rebuilt transmisson and valve body
*New ring and pinion gears
*Rear axle bearings and "oil additave"

I should have it back tomorrow and the "new" parts will include -

*8 new fuel injectiors
*8 new spark plugs and coil packs

Has anyone else had any issues like this or is my truck a big terd?

I think I vote "terd".

All that can't be fun. I had the throttle body replaced at 1600 miles and the reflash at 3000 miles, thats all I have had in almost 22,000 miles.

One big turd. But at least you dealership seems to be fixing the problems. If I was you and plan on keeping this truck I would talk the dealership if they would meet you halfway on a ESP waranty policy.

Hopefully it comes back fixed but you will always have it in the back of your head that something is going to happen.

I forgot about the computer being re-flashed - I just edited it.
That is a good idea about the extended warantee. But I am worried about "what's next?"

Question

Have you owned it since it was new?

Long story short, I can't imagine that a truck that is specifically designed for heavy duty applications like the F-150 would have trouble with so many drive-train related items (torque converter, transmission, ring and pinion gears) when you claim you have "babied" the vehicle! Are you sure some previous owner didn't abuse the heck out of it before you took possession?

I bought it new. I am a Realtor so I have no "real use" for a truck. I bought a 4 door truck to take people to look at houses and to put my for sale signs in the bed. And, well, I like trucks. Gas mileage isnt the best so when I am not with clients I drive my 94 Ranger. That is why the mileage is so low.

It is always washed, 20" are always polished, and all of maintenece is up to date. It stays on road (2wd) and twice I had my Buell in the back but that is less than 450 lbs. This is why I cant understand why I am having all of these problems.

This is also why I would like to know if anyone else is having issues.

Long story short, contact the General Manager at your dealership and request the paperwork and information for a Ford Buy Back. Have your documents in hand as to how many days the truck has been in the shop and out of service. Maybe with in a short time you can be cruising in a new 06 Screw for very little out of pocket, if any.

That really sucks that you are having so many problems with that truck. My 05 has had no problems at all so far and I am qute surprised to hear about your problems. At least you have a dealer that fixes your problems isntead of claiming there is no problem like some do.

Mine was built at the Dearborn plant.

I'm gonna go against the flow here.
I am seeing a different pattern than that of 'lemon'. The TC, Tranny, Ring and pinion and axle bearings all look like a shotgun repair attempt.

I suspect one of those parts was bad, and it led to either damage to the others, or more likely five misdiagnoses.
Happens a lot. Watch for 'tires, rack and pinion, differential, tranny' replacement threads. They are seeing a problem and replacing things in a row till it is fixed or they get bored.

The injectors, well, I am glad they are replacing them for you. Watch for injector threads.
There were some recalls on plugs/coil packs if I recall correctly.

The reflash is just the same problem. I think they are shotgunning a drivability problem here.
One problem, four things they are trying because they can not put their finger on it.

After this round if the truck drives nice, runs nice, I think I wouldn't worry too much about it. If there is still a problem, then I would try for the buyback.
Chris

It sounds like you got a truck that everything was built on friday afternoon or maybe the weekend shift did it. Sorry to hear about all the problems you are having. Have you asked for a new truck?

I had to get rid of my sport trac because of too many issues. A pair of tranny's, a drive line, and a host of other engine problems. What a relief when it was finally gone.

When I read your post though, I thought the same thing as what Chris Adams mentioned, they all seemed to be linked. Either something went wrong and it trickled down to other problems, or the dealership isn't getting the real problem, and it keeps ruining other parts related to it. If it isn't right this time, I'd go for the buy back option, there's no sense putting yourself through it any longer.

Some trucks have a ton a problems, some trucks dont have a single problem. Its called poor quality control. Its anyone's guess what you will get when you buy.

Some ppl on here dont like me because I have problems with my truck, and as a result, those that do not have problems, do not want to hear about those who are having problems, so good luck getting a whole lot of help around here. While some have a modification wish list, I have a list of problems I wish to be fixed.

I can relate with you though, it really can be an inconvenience to pay for a truck that spends more time at the dealer than on the road. Hopefully they will get your truck straight and you wont have anymore issues. Good luck.
