A couple of race vids

Well, here are the Titan vs. F150 race vids you've been waiting for. Race 1 was 0-100 and my 3.55 gears with 32" tall tires really show in that one. He had me by 2 lengths at 40mph and it stayed that way all the way to 100. Race 2 was from a 25mph roll. I got a slight jump on him, but he stayed about even with my rear bumper to 100. Race 3 was from a 25mph roll again. He got a slight jump on that one, and I stayed about even with his rear bumper to 100.

So, after making these runs, I've come to a conclusion. I need lower gears bad. He kills me off the line, but we're pretty even from a roll. With 4.10s or 4.56s in my truck, the outcome would be different.

On to the vids:

Race 1

Race 2

Race 3

So after all those mods a stock Titan still put a hurtin' on you, from a stop at least?

Woohoo! I'm a movie star!

I'm not stock. Just the Banks exhaust and Volant intake. HMW3's F150 is running really nice. I'm pretty sure both trucks would be dead even if it weren't for my gearing advantage.

We'll do this again after HMW3 gets his new gears.

hwm3......What rpm is your truck shifting at?

Sounds really, really low, like less than 5000 rpm's.

Is that Troyer tune set for 87 tow, or 93 performance?

I was running the 93 performance tune and it was shifting at 5400RPM. It may sound low since your listening to his truck screamin away at 6000RPM.

As far as gearing goes, we're running the same size tires. His overall first gear ratio is 12.84, mine is 10.08. Even with 4.56 gears, he'd still have a gearing advantage. Add in the fact that he's prolly 300lbs or so lighter, and there is your performance difference. I figure mines got a few more ponies in the motor, but the gearing and weight disadvantage is too much to overcome.

It's all about gearing and weight.

His diff gears arent really low. It is his tranny gears that are low..(5 speed vs. 4 speed) and he has a lighter vehicle as well if I am not mistaken.

An extended cab shortbed F150 (04-up) weighs in at 5244lbs EMPTY. An extended cab Short bed Titan weighs in at 5019lbs or so.

Titan has a big advantage stock for stock based purely on weight and gearing. HP/TQ is about the same.

Good runs BTW. Both of you.

I asked him he has about 4:10 gear ratio once you calculate his in his tranny and you have 3.55, that's a LOT of the power difference, also heard you we're looking at 4:10s or 4:56s, good luck

You got that right.

Take the money you intend to spend on gears, and put it towards an SC.

Thanks. That 5 speed tranny really helps out and being able to rev to 6000 sure doesn't hurt. Even with 4.56 gears, he's lower once we're in 2nd gear. Too big a gap 1st to 2nd. 2nd to 3rd is worse.

The cool part about it is we both love our trucks. This is just in good fun and neither of us gets pissed regardless of the outcome. Hell, I helped him install shackles on his, then he helped install shackles on mine.

NOPE. That'll put a helluva strain on the tranny. I'm already geared too high for the tire size I'm running. No power adders until I get gears.
