12.1 MPG Average???

I have 6K miles on my 4x2 Lariat. The info display says 12.1 MPG is my average...What's up with that? The dealership installed a "Fuel Maximizer" when I bought it, shouldn't that help? Is this average MPG correct?

I. What the heck is a "Fuel Maximizer". A cousin of the Tornado, a joke? What?

2. What does your calculator say when you set the trip to zero on a fillup, then next time you fill it you divide the miles traveled by the gas you add?

3. On lousy blend gas, winter version, in OC you will get pretty bad gas mileage, but to average 12 would require
a. all short distance driving,
b. Left foot on the brake driving,
c. Lots of hotrodding,
d. Lots and Lots of idling,
e. Low tires, very low,
or f. something defective in the system.

Chris

You'll see slight increase over the next 7-12K miles....I'm at 32000 now and getting (during winter fuel) around 14.5-16 mpg. BTW, I have 5.4/3.73/FX4 S'crew cab. Now if you want to see instant mpg increase, you'll have to get Edge Evol., according to the it, I am ampg is 19.2 (hope they come out with better adjustment on their next update)

I would love to get 12.5 mpg!!!! Right now I get 9-10 mpg. I can't wait until I get gears, intake, headers, Edge, and re-do the shi*ty exhaust...then maybe I can break 15mpg

Seems a little low, especially for a 4X2. Of course, you're located on the Left Coast, and what you put into your tank is only "gas" in spirit. Sitting at lights for long periods and gunning it to keep up with the little street cars will kill your mileage.

My FX4 Screw has been getting 13 MPG city driving this winter. It idles a good 10 minutes every morning in the drive way before I drive it too. Pure highway driving I'm getting 17.5 MPG... no mods, 80 MPH and 87 octane motion lotion. My 1997 4.6L SuperCab gets 15 city and 19-20 Highway.

I seem to be getting better mpg after the EDGE tuner and some time. I average about 15 to 15.5 mpg and 426 miles per tank full which works out to around 14 mpg which is better than the 12 I started with.

F150 Lariat 5.4 w 4x2

Have about 21,000 miles on it and averaging 14.5 in the city. I am very easy on the gas and don't have a heavy foot. Can't afford it. Putting on 285/60 on soon, hope it does'nt fall too much.
