If you were refering to painting the coils ricey......wtf? How? Is painting your truck ricey? Is painting the bathroom walls ricey? I dont get it.
Yes painting the bathroom walls is ricey didn't you know? But if you read these threads long enough (about 3 days should be enough) someone will ask about raising their 2 wheel drive truck, and it turns out this is ricey as well, as well as lowering a 4x4. It actually turns out owning a 2 wheel drive truck is the most rediculously ricey thing that you could ever do, being as there is no practical purpose for a 2 wheel drive truck. Yes, people on this board can be stupid (as is the nature of many people), most people here would rather see a 4x4 with a 6" lift on stock tires than see a 2 wheel drive lowered tastefully w/ a nice wheel and tire combo, actually just seeing a 2 wheel drive truck makes some of them mad.

Yes, many people have their opinions, and you know what they say about opinions, they are like A*holes....everyone has em and they all stink.....So, yeah this guy didn't ask for whether or not he should lower his truck, I believe that is up to him since it is HIS truck . He asked our opinions on painting the coils so I'll give mine. I think it will look cool, but paint will more than likely chip unless you get some really flexible stuff because that coil is going to be doing a lot of flexing and rocks and debris are also flying around in there. Powdercoating should be pretty much permanent, so depending on how in depth you want to go into the project, that would be the way to go......

Wow... Didn't think I'd spark such a heated discussion. I was simply trying to add a little humor. Its his truck if he wants to lower it, go for it.
Face it most people really don't need any of the mods we do here. We do it to please ourselves. (Some perv will take that out of context) And if somebody wants to waste his hard earned dollars doing something, let him.

Back to the issue at hand, I'm starting to think painting is a bad idea just because of the flexing and chiping concerns. So go with the powdercoat if you want a different color.

IMO if you paint them silver like the truck, they'll be filthy in a month and then you'll be under there cleaning. Nobody will see them unless you plan on entering shows.

Spend you time shining the outside that you can see rather than areas only Secret Service agents with those little mirrors will see.

IMHO calling something gay is just plain stupid.

As far as I know, rubbing on some other dudes package is gay, not painting some springs.

Sorry for negative post but just really tired of hearing how things are gay, sounds so 5th grade

geeze

After further review....I think I will keep them black...I was just thinking since I had them off, they are new, if they were going to be painted now would be the time. Anyways, I guess I dont get why its cool to have painted coils on a custom 4x4 but not a lowered street truck....hmmm anyways thanks for all the feed back. She gets dropped Saturday. I had already dropped the rear 2" to level it, and a Hellwig sway bar. Handles sweet, cant wait to see how she handles after another 2" down....

Later

Ricey. Ricey. Ricey.

Since when does anyone's opinion have you live up to your standard of being "positive"?

So should I say I like it and lie? Or be truthful and give MY OPINION like it was asked?

I'm having a hard time understanding some people! You bash 2wd, but you own one? This isn't my first lifted truck, and wont be the last (well last FORD, but thats a different story!), but I've owned 2 full show trucks, that I have loved! (that layed frame, and they were built CHEVY tough). The only reason I bought this truck was that I did alot of snowboarding and I wanted a 4x4 and even though its lifted and not very big, I would almost rather be on the ground. I think I would vomit if I saw a 4x4 with a 6" lift running stock tires!!! I love both lifted and lowered trucks (maybe its a WESTCOAST thing)

But to the real point of this thread....

I also agree that you should have them powdercoated rather then paint, due to the compression that it will take on.
