V-6 powerstroke?

Ok, I realize that this may belong in the engines forum, but:

I was at the dealer the other day and saw a flier for the small boxcab cargo truck that ford has now.(simmilar to the ol' Isuzu NPR) In the truck is a V-6 version of the 6.0 powerstroke (it's 4.5L). Everyone keeps saying that ford is developing a V-6 for the F-150, but here the thing is in flesh and blood. I guess the main thing right now is the transmission. The box truck has the torqueshift behind it, and I'm not sure it will go in the F-150 ( or the V-6 Desial for that ,matter)

Just my thoughts on what I saw.

Yeah, the engine is already there. I don't know about fitting the Torqshift in an F150 though. 440ft-lb @ 1850RPM would be rough on a light duty tranny.

I am not crazy about 'smoker' engines, but I think I would be tempted to go for a 4.5 Powerstroke F-150. Just seems like it would be a great combo.

Not to mention that with a nice tuner your truck will haul some ***! I mean, crew cab F250 PSDs w/ ladder racks just with a tune can get into the 14s.
Imagine the potential of a small PSD in the lighter F150. The speed everyone is looking for would be a tuner away.

A friend of mine just got back from South Africa from hunting. He said that there are diesel ford rangers all over the place there.

that 4.5 was originally slated to be in the F150 and was planned to be available as of 2007 (with the new low sulphur diesel)

Something happened and Ford walked away from it. They settled with Navistar (gave them some money, agreed to outfit the LCF with the 4.5)

That being said, there is a rumored 4.4 V6 diesel (baby version of the new 6.4 twin screw) that is planned for the F150 which will be far superior to the 4.5 in the LCF.

OK, This may sound crazy but,

I was flipping through a new diesel truck magizine at Wally-World and came across a picture of the 4.5L V-6. It said that Nissan was looking into putting that same engine in the Titan?!? And said that there are Rumors of Toyota using a CAT diesel. I know that CAT has expressed no intrest in building engines for light duty trucks though.

Who knows what the next 12 months will bring???

Cool Video but, Is this the engine that we have all been waiting for???

From all the rumors, it sounds like the 6.4L Twin Turbo is what we are going to in fact see in 07. We need somthing serious, the Duramax and Cummins Are woopin out tail right now.

Speaking of Cummins, I heard also that their contract is up with Dodge, and that Ford was on the verge of getting a Cumins engine. I'm not sure I belive this, but it would be interesting.

No, but I have seen the warranty department full of powerstrokes blowing up. It's the most unreliable diesel ever put into a pickup and ford's own financial statement backs that up. Stated that fords largest money pit at the moment is...wait for it....6 liter diesel warranty. And that folks is why the 6.0 has been shown the door.

6.4l twin turbo is rumored to put other truck dealers 5 years behind with the technology it is going to have. My co-worker has told me that if it does come out he is trading in his 05 PS for one. I think it's suppose to have 415hp stock
