Aftermarket backspace and 35 inch tires

I think I finally found a wheel that I like and can afford, Eagle Alloys #114. From their web site I was able to pull the following specs.
They come in a 17x8 or a 17x10 in a 6-135 bolt pattern both in chrome.

Am I correct in figuring that the :
17x8 with 5.2 Backspace would stick out .80 inch over stock
17x10 with 4.9 inch Backspace would stick out 3.30 inch over stock

Which wheel do I go with in order to run 35 inch BFGs on my 2005 4x4 Screw with an AS 2.5 lift so as not to have rubbing issues ?

I posted this up in Aftermarket wheels but seem to get more replys in this section.

Your not going to be able to run 35's with aftermarket rims without rubbing. If you do it anyway I would get the 17x8 because you will get less rub with them but it will still rub a lot from what I've been told.

I just realized that you have an '05 and most '17 aftermarket rims won't fit on the 05+ because of the brake calipers are to big.

We seriously need to all get together and make a sticky on rule of thumb tire fitment. Every new person who comes to the board (myself included, there is no shame in it) wants to know what size wheel/tire fits with what lift/spacer.

I.E.

X leveling kit generally allows X size tire.

Etc.

Who wants to undergo such a daring endeavor assuming that RockPick is cool with making it a sticky?

Im not sure if the 17s will fint but definitly go with the 17x10 if they do fit. I have 4.5" backspacing. look in my gallery for pics. The stock wheels are 8" and I think that is too small

8" wide? If so then thats not correct, its even smaller - 7.5". To answer your question, take a look in my gallery at my brothers grey 05 4x4 screw. He has a 2" autospring leveling kit with 315/70/17 (35") BFG on MB Motoring Blitz 17X8". Looks perfect in my opinion and the pics dont give it justice.

PS - I have the same wheels on 2wd with the 285/70/17 with a couple shots to see the backspacing to give you an idea.

I'm asking which rim size to choose based on the backspace specs NOT what dam tire size to run.

Thanks KaNigIt, your brother's truck is exactly the stance and look that I am trying to achieve. I assume those MB's are 17x8 with 5.5 inch backspacing? Both of you guys have nice looking trucks, hope mine turns out just as cool.

I don't think that was directed at you, I don't know if you read these forums often or not, but there are tons of questions about what tires people can put on their trucks with given mods, and I think that the idea was to create a single thread that gives the general rules for what will fit and what won't. I think that this is a good idea, and if I can add to it, an explanation on how backspacing will affect the fit of wheels and tires and how to do the calculations. And I think that maybe we should talk to wandell about this, because from what I've seen, nobody knows wheels and tires like wandell.
This is my little contribution to the effort, and tire size calculator

I just wish someone could give some advice on what size tire I can go up to on my 04 with the OEM 18" rims. There seems to be practically no options.

I think you're right, sorry beef didn't mean to fly off the handle. It's just frusturating when you do a search and read all the different threads and never get a solid, consistant answer. I probably should have clarified my initial question better, I was more concerned about whether may calculations were correct on how far the aftermarket rim would stick out of the wheel wells over that of the stock rim and if anyone had any experience with either size.
