cold weather squeeks and rattles?
ok, i live in michigan and purchased my 2005 f150 fx4 supercab in december. ever since i owned my truck i have constant rattles and squeeks. my major squeeks and rattles are comming from the drivers side front and rear passangers doors and my steering column. i tried to have the steering column replaced per the TSB regarding this issue, but the rattle/ticking noise just came back. the door rattle sounds like its comming from between the front drivers side door and rear drivers side suicide door. it sounds like its not shut all the way. when i go over hard bumps it rattles. now, my question is, are these problems weather related? when it warms up here in michigan will i hear this rattles and squeeks? also, will this problems just go away after time, when the truck breaks in. i really dont want to go back to the dealer again for this. im thinking that when the weather gets warmer, things expand and the noises will go away...am i right?
Things should get better as it gets warmer. With this in mind I would take it to the dealer while it is cold out so they can reproduce your problem. It is supposed to be around 40 by wednesday, so I would do it before that or wait until it cools down next week. My door rattled like you are describing as well. The bottom portion of the back door was not latching all of the way. Check yours and see if both the bottom and the top of the door are latched.
cold weather takes a toll on Plastics in cars and trucks. My truck was full of rattles and squeaks that drove me insane. of course every time I bring it into the dealer for rattles and squeaks, they call me up and say "Can't duplicate" at this time which is b/s.
when it finally gets warmer out, things should get back to normal, or if you have heat on pretty good, everything will warm up and not rattle and squeak so much. everything is made these days of Plastic, and plastic flexes and makes squeaks and rattles.

It's hard for me to close the doors without really slamming them when it's really cold outside. It's like the striker won't grab or something. Of course the stealership cannot duplicate the problem. It NEVER happens when it's warm.

I get a rear window squeak but only when its cold out. When my friend was putting in my rancho kit he gave me his Excursion for a few days. Man. Talk about squeak and rattle. I had a 2000 excursion too. I never knew how much it rattled until I got the f150. F150 is nice a tight.
