People lift trucks for the same reason they swap factory rims for aftermarkets, or for the same reason they install superchargers on them -- it's their truck, and they want to modify it to fit their specific tastes.

As for me, I'm going to end up lifting mine (as little as I can get away with) to clear the set of 20" rims I've been wanting (MB Bruzers) and Nitto Terra Grapplers (305/55). I don't take my truck to the woods that often, but I'm at the beach all the time. Does that justify this specific setup? No, but in my mind that's going to make my truck look good to ME. After that a set of 4.10 or 4.56 gears are going in. With a 33+ inch tire the stock 3.55's are NOT going to cut it... even with the Roush blower that'll be installed very soon.

Find something your friends have done to their cars and ask them why. Have they lowered any of their cars? Have they put way over the top stereo systems in? Have they put a CAI on & claimed they felt a difference in power? Turn the question back around on them...

All I can say, is your truck will look sooooo agressive!!!!!!! But yeah.. I told them I wanted 6" lift with 35" tires and they ask why and I was like..It's AWESOME looking and then I can do way more off roading than you and everyone will be like chit your truck is awesome!!

I wouldn't try to do "way more off roading" than too many people in a 2WD truck. And maybe they ask why because none of them own cars. They're too busy playing nintendo, and waiting until they're old enough to get a license.

When the ask why just tell them that it's trendy and you want to be cool and fit in.
However I did it cause it makes girls drop their panties.

Well I haven't, actually I want to lower it slightly. (in the rear)
Why?
Because I'm not building a mud bogger out of it and I want to level the ride.
Why?
Because it's my truck and my money. If you want to buy me a truck and make the payments, pay the insurance, pay the taxes on it, pay for any repairs and maintenance, pay for any and all mods, for me to drive it... Then you could have an interest in why.... Otherwise don't worry yourself about it. I take care of ALL of that myself.

That's what I would tell them...

It is cliche, but "Why not" is more than an adequate answer to that question.
