Magnaflow 12226 Installed

Got the muffler welded into the stock pipe today. My buddy has a lift in his backyard, and he did it for the small fee of $20. Not too bad. Got some spare pipe and needed materials at Pep Boys, and overall I am satisfied with the sound. It's pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, a low rumble when cruising and loud at WOT.

How much extra pipe did you need and does it need to be flared, if so, on one of both ends?

why not get some tips. or a tip. half of the reason I bought my exhaust was so that I could get the dual side exits. It makes your truck look and sound awsome.

I bought a 36" length of pipe at Pep Boys. Used a little less than half. Basically, we used the pipe from the front of the stock muffler for the back of the new one, and used the length of straight pipe in its place. The bend was perfect. No flaring necessary.

Not sure if it's the same muffler or not. It was recommended by someone on here, and my buddy says it will get louder as it "breaks in." So far, so good. Now it sounds like a real truck.

I already have one on the way from eBay. Ordered it last week, should be here Monday. It's also a Magnaflow, 15 degree slash cut with a rolled tip, 2.5" inlet and 3" outlet. Should look nice, I think.

I'm just trying not to let this addiction get the best of me so that I spend boatloads of cash on a leased truck and get nothing for it at the end, unless I sell it. But, I do need a bumper thanks to some illegal immigrant stopping right in front of me. Looks to be time for an '06 with the round holes.

Forgot to mention, not sure if its the loss of the learned driving style or the Magnaflow itself, but from a stop I actually get the tires to chirp a bit if I mash the go pedal. That's how a truck SHOULD be, IMO.

Good to see you finally got it and installed. I take it you are glad you went with the 14". I know I am, I'd hate it to be any more quiet.

Thanks... it's still a little quiet for my liking. I am assuming, that it will get louder as the muffler "breaks in," correct or no? I know my Flows on my Mustang got louder and louder until they broke in. Maybe it's because the cab is so damn far away from the exit (stock location). Who knows? Oh well, it still kicks ***.
