Tuner Idea??

What I would like is the tuner software used by troyer, edge, or whatever; put in a Laptop, with a cable that plugs into the truck and the serial port on the computer. And all the tuning can be done through the computer
Is this out there, or possible? I think it would be cheaper.

I'm not directly aware of the tuning software but I'm sure it's available somewhere. I'm curious if you would know how to tune it without a dyno?

That would be cool if it came with some generic tunes like the edge.

Cheaper... No
Harder... Yes

Pull out your wallet for a $800 MSRP and the guarantee you might screw something up if you don't know what you are doing. It is a lot more complicated than: "lets add some spark and firmer shifts".

But if you know what you are doing, then playing with the software and tuning your vehicle is a blast!

As long as the laptop has a USB or 9 Pin serial port and a CD drive, the laptop is good to go. You then would need the cable that plugs from your laptop to the ECU Diag port underneath your dash, if it's not included with the SCT pack that asinatra is referring to. Pretty much the same cable you get with the aftermarket handheld tuners, i.e., superchips, diablo, etc.

My sentiments are shared with asinatra, you can get in a boat load of trouble if you are not experienced on how to do ECU tuning. There are a gazillion and one tuneable parameters and they all have to work in harmony. I just hate for something dreadful happen to your truck. Good luck!
