That would be a lot safer than messing with my 4 PID's while driving 80+ on the interstate
Why don't you get rid of MPH? You've got a speedo right in front of you. Maybe it's because I'm Canadian and we use KM/H but I don't see the point in having two speedos and two tachs.

. . you need to return the truck back to stock before you try to hook up to the Lightning Software.

there was also a post about updating the actual lightning software, older versions won't work without it. i have dialup for now and the update for the actual software only took a few moments. some sort of patch or something.....then the regular updates for the changes in the program will work. bill had a link somewhere a few days ago......

I've tried to update after putting the truck back to stock. When I click the menu to get the version info, I get an error message...

Honestly, I think my Dell is toast because I can't seem to get any Java updates, Norton updates, etc...

Time to use my work laptop for Edge software!

Sounds like you have a virus of some type. I would try and see if that is your problem. If you cannot get your updates there is something wrong with the hard drive. If all else fails you will probably have to reformat the hard drive to get rid of what you have. I have had similar issues with not being able to download updates, but the virus would also disable any scheduled updates. The virus I had would also act like the virus scan was running, but in fact it was not. Very tricky these bastards are.

Penguin, have you gone to the EDGE website and gotten the latest version of Lightning? The older versions will no longer update and give you the "Version file not found" error message. I had the same problem and fixed it by getting the current version of Lightning from the EDGE website.

I guess I could....but I like having my speedo right on the money. And in my instrument cluster the speedo is off a few MPH depending on speed.

If you haven't done it yet...I'll make it a little easier for ya. Click here. I would download the top link(Full Install). Uninstall your previous USB drivers and the old version of Lightning software from your computer. Install the new version, then the USB Drivers and see if that works.

You don't need to reinstall the drivers. I had to do the same thing last night with the "Version file not found" message. I just uninstalled the Lightning software, rebooted the computer, intsalled the full version and was good to go. It might be a good idea to make sure your Edge isn't plugged in at the moment though.

Thank you SO much! I was getting the "Version file could not be located" error message.

I think I botched the last file install. When I get home tonight, I'll take another shot at it with your link.

Thanks again!

Me too. I just use the 3 screen version with mph, oil temp and tran temp. It makes the mph readout bigger.
