It has to be the Job 2 06 with the flex fuel capable 5.4. Not all 06's are FFV (flex fuel vehicle), and from what I understand, not all Job 2 06's are FFV.

E85 Improve vehicle performance because has higher octane = more horepower and torque!

I was listening to a trucking radio show this morning (end of the show) and there was a conversation about e85. e85 gets about 30% less MPG compared to traditional fuel that we all use. AND it's more expensive. So there ya go...you have to use more and it cost more. So why bother? Waste of time/money.

Because of how e85 produces energy, this also means more stress on the engine and you get to change your oil earlier are more often!

First bold part, true without a doubt. Second, completely false. Yes you have the upfront expense of buying the option on the vehicle, but the cost of E85/gallon is much cheaper than the current gas prices, by about $0.50-0.60/gallon, on average.

Here in Missouri, it's about 20 cents/gallon cheaper than regular 87 octane. I'd use it if I could. The lower price is almost an even trade-off for the fuel mileage difference. Fewer emissions, uses less oil foreign oil, supports our local farmers. Why not use it? Granted, it's not a solution to all oil problems, but any little bit helps.

All of the right reasons to use E85, I'd say.

asinatra,

On these E85 trucks, does it list different specs for the maintenance? Since it's a flex-fuel vehicle, I can imagine it'd be a hard maintenance list to write, seeing as how you could use two different fuels during a maintenance interval. Just how soon do you have to make those oil and filter changes, anyways?

will you still be saying that if 97 octane goes to $3/gallon?

Here in Northern California I have not seen a single station selling or advertising this. I don't think 6 mpg city will cut it for me, but I'm assuming you can get a proper tune for the octane rating with E85? Is fossil fuel used to create E85?

E85 is 85% ethanol (normally made from corn) and 15% gasoline, made from fossil fuels.

I also haven't seen anywhere selling E85 in Northern California. Where about in northern California are you at? I'm way up north in Redding.

Go Here to see if there is a station near you. It only shows 4 in the whole state of Cali. The Midwest has them everywhere...guess where the corn is grown!

EDIT: Here is some interesting info on E85 compared to gasoline. A slight power increase, but a 28% decrease in fuel economy.
