Slip Yoke Woes - Arrrrrrrgh!!!!!!
Slip Yoke Woes - Arrrrrrrgh!!!!!!
All;
Truck went in to dealership yesterday for silp yoke lube and fuel sender replacement. Now I have a speed sensitive vibe, bad enough at 65 to rattle the change in the cupholder.
I am taking the truck back this AM, and see if they reinstalled the driveshaft incorrectly or something of the sort. I was not a happy camper last night when I discovered the "vibe". I have had few problems up to now, and it just hit 30,000miles. I hope that this is not the beginning of things, as the warranty is fast dissappearing......

Whoevere take care of drive shaft MUST BE carefully remove it.. if you drop it even within 1/2 ft from above can cause driveshaft bent or dent that we most likely will not notice!
Been there and done that
with my old jeep!!
Just a suggest if they havent take care of it..
For Slip yoke-
try this...USE Mercury boat waterproof telfon grease that really work for my truck... its 7 bucks it has black tube (about an inch diatmeter and 5/6inches lenght). you can find one at boat store.

Just got back from the dealership....the rear u-joint was the culprit. Seems that it was just a tiny bit loose. Took a pretty good two handed tug to get it to shift when the truck was on the hoist. Not good for only 30,000 miles. Just a note for all of us to keep an eye on that rear u-joint. Maybe some of the other cases of the "Vibe" are from the rear u-joint???? Might be worth a look. They also told me that it is on long term back order - they might just have to order an entire new driveshaft. The long term back order sort of leads one to think that this might be a bit wider problem.
The saga continues.....

Mine is kinda weird. I had the clunk when I bought the truck. When I removed the rear blocks, it went away. Then it came back. Now, it's gone again. Maybe it has something to do with the weather.
Mine clunks pretty hard when I slow down going up the hill to my house. It has done it on a slow turn before but it has been a long time ago. It feels like the transmission shifts down and the driveshaft has a lot of end play.
Smokeneck;
Those are the same symptoms of slip yoke clunk that I had. Get it lubed up and the clunk will go away. I know it sounds like a quick fix, but it works

They cant order a U joint- why dont you just order it from different company such as Randy ring pinion, 4 wd wholesale or any your home local driveshaft that might have it in stock.
