Need help with muffler-Magnaflow!
I have a 2005 F-150, 4.6L, Reg. Cab, Reg.Bed. I would like to replace my stock muffler with a higher flowing one and heard that a Magnaflow was what I'm looking for. Which design/size do I need for an exact fit for my stock pipes? I've done some searching on this, and i think maybe model 14250(5x8x24, offset/center, 2.5"). The overall length of this muffler is 30". I would like the largest/quietest one available that will fit and if possible i do not want to add pipe. I want the polished mirror finish on it also. I'm looking for performance, not loudness although I've heard Magnaflow gives a nice deep tone. If it sounds like stock that's not a big deal to me, and I really don't want any drone. I've heard that some mufflers will cause a truck to lose low-end torque- will this one? Thanks!
I have a 24", SI/SO, Offset, 2.5" on a 05 S-cab/5.5' bed. The shop had to add a piece of pipe to the front of the muffler.
The sound is a little bit louder than stock but not much when cruising but step on it and you will hear it. By sticking to the SI/SO 2.5", it's my understanding that there should be no low end loss. I haven't noticed any loss.

You know, I was wondering that too... I was looking under the truck the other day and was thinking about using the stock pipe past the muffler and cutting it off after it comes down over the axle so that it would be dumped... I dont think center/center will work, would I get center/offset or offset/offset to do this with an 18" magnaflow?

Bed length
Just a note of caution.
It is best to refer to your pick up bed by length.
You have a 5.5', 6.5', or a 8.0' box.
When I bought my Magneflow, Magnaflow and Troyer both told me it would fit a Super Cab with the short box.
Well guess what, they all thought the short box was a 6.5' box and I have a 5.5' box. Not a cool surprise!
Try to stay away from short, medium, or long, and use the convention that Ford motor uses.
5.5', 6.5', or 8.0' this might save you a few headaches in the future.

I finally placed my order with performancepeddler.com and got the C/O instead of center/center. I will be installing myself usuing existing pipes so anything to make it easier will be great!
That's who I ordered my 12226 Magnaflow from. Well, through eBay but same thing. I made a best offer of $50.00 with free shipping and the guy accepted it so I got a good deal, I'd think.
I got it for under his ebay price and everyone elses by about 7 bux so I was happy... Self install and I will have save about 100bux!! Cant beat it!
EDIT: Talk about fast!! I ordered it at 11:30am and UPS has already sent a shipping confirmation by 2:30pm... I should get it friday!!! Gonna be fun doing my first exhaust install!!

I know a guy who replaced his muffler already and he has his leftover stock pipe from where he cut the stock one off to go SI/DO, would I be able to use it since I have to add pipe to make my new muffler fit? Where do I have the shop add the pipe, front or rear and how much will I need? At some point I may want to upgrade to the full Magnaflow cat-back, so I think I'll need the headpipe to be the same as it came from the factory. Should I go with 5x8x24 or 5x11x22 to fit better ?
