Not sure what you mean. 6 volt cars were positive ground. Since power actually goes from the negative to the positive (old Ben Franklin guessed wrong) Positive ground was considered the best. We switched to negative ground in the late 50's because of the language confusion, not because it was better.

"Intentions", what are we in 3rd grade, I rarely make a typo so you get a cookie. I have never lived in the salt infested hills you speak of but I can't see salt corroding quicker than mud and sand.

It's obvious you don't have an answer to his question, and boosting the number of posts you make is more important than trying to share any good information, no matter what your original "intentions" were...and I would surely never intend ot question someone with your extensive offroading experience, especially when Mommy can call in the cops on me
Wow, don't get too worked up. I did not mean to insult you or anyone, whats with the low jabs. I'm getting dumber arguing with someone whose last 65 posts are about naked women, guess thats why you get the popularity vote.

The lack of friendly conversation here gets noticeably worse over time. Pretty funny to see you attacking age when the average poster on here is younger than I.

On to the original topic, I may not live where salt is plenty, but I do get my fair share of rust, I can prove that with pics. I'd be damned if salt rusts the underbody quicker, show me your underbody's. I'm not doubting anyone, but if it's worse I'd buy the protection plan as they are required to fix what it's supposed to protect. If not, that is the dumbest thing I've heard.

You can have your truck sit in mud all year round and not rust, dirt does not cause rust. Nothing is worse then Salt during the winters. Sand is bad too, but not as bad as salt! Mines only 4 years old and has spent it's life in the snow belt during winters and is already rusting a long the doors and under body.

Nothing can outlast salt.

How would you explain the rust on my frame, differential cover, rotors, calipers, etc. I've since replaced and tried to minimize what I've found but it's still there.

thats just surface rust. That doesn't hurt anything much, its when the rust causes holes is when you should be worried.

actually, you should go to a Ford plant and see the trucks rolling off the line, they have rust already on the drive shafts, rotors and calipers. Most under body parts are already alittle rusty before Ford even installs them onto the trucks.

Didn't you buy your truck from someone living in the midwest? Perhaps it has seen a winter exposed to road salt? Mud will not rust a car.
And the surface rust is a very good point. Almost any car has rust on the driveshaft, differential cover, and brakes.

So everyone else is wrong unless photos are submitted as proof?

No one is saying that water won't rust. Just that water mixed with salt is worse.

I have no intiontions of making you feel inferior but unless you're like those of us who offroad, I don't think this is going to benefit you. I have not seen a street vehicle rust. I have had rust issues with many parts, including my brakes and rotors among others.

Additional reading for you if you have the time and want to educate yourself. Much more information is out there. Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Calm down expy, nobody said it didn't exist but I did not understand how my underbody could be rusted anymore than it already is, that is until Tard mentioned the winters up north before I bought the truck.

Isn't that exactly what I didn't say?

Salt is one of the worst electrolytes. Not saying other substances won't cause rust, just that salt is a MF.

Its these little boxes that are supposed to make your metal "alive" so the rust cannot form.

anyone ever heard of or expereinced this? I have talked to guys that had it on their cars for the last five years locally and all is well, but that isn't a really good long test period...

AutoSaver
to help you out with your orginal topic. when I had my 04 f150, I was looking into rust proofing the underside, I had a choice of either a spray on rust proof or this Auto saver that you are discribing, also had a life time warrenty on it and cost little bit more then what a spray rust proofing job would be.

I was told from the salesman how great this auto saver is supposed to work, but we all know how salesman lie to make money, and I just didn't believe in it myself, so I went a head and got the spray rust proofing down on the underside of the truck. I think it had a 10 year warrenty on it, but you had to bring it back to the dealer every 6 months for a check out if more spray was needed or not to keep up with the warrenty.

If I were you, don't get that Auto Saver crap becuase I really don't think it will work, go with the spray rust proofing if your thinking about getting your truck rust proofed.

Scam.

It's been around for 20+ years in one form or another. They used to sell them in the JC Whitney catalog when I was a kid.

They're right up there with the turbonator and the bilge fans marketed as electric superchargers.
