04 4.6 idle question... under 1000?
Hey guys, been noticing my 04 F150 idling rough, dipping down to around 900 and is just kind of chugging...
Where do you idle? 900 just seems to low to me and too rough...
Going to go to the dealer, just wanted to see what the norm is if you know...

I think mine idles well below 900 when it warms up. I also mentioned to my service writer (at the 10k mile service) that it idles rough enough to shake the change in my console, and he said 'no problem'. When I got it back he said they did a PCM flash - and sure enough it's buttery smooth.
Mine idles at probably 600 ish I guess ? ( I know it's just above the half way point between 0 and 1000 on the tach, when it has warmed up of course )
... runs mint, still stock, never a reflash or anything, K.C. built 4-04.

Mine idles around 650-700 which is fine, BUT on occasion for no apparent reason dips down and stalls. I have taken it in but they didn't find anything wrong and naturally never does it in front of the tech.
One problem is when it happens, it does not trigger the wrench light, if it did then they could trace it.
Mine was built 7/03.

Usually at 654, will go down as far as 600, or up to 720 every now and then. This is after full warm up. Not super steady like some cars, but only sometimes enough to call rough.
I assume it's a fuel thing. Different blends, different idles.
