Roush Owners: Some Questions

I'm eagerly awaiting the return of my truck with the Roush. At the present time I do not even have the documents that came with it, as I took unopened box to the dealer for install. Questions:

1. What does Roush recommend on break in, if anything (i.e. can I nail it on the way home )?

2. Did you switch to cooler plugs?

3. Have you switched gears, and if so to what with what tires?

4. Have you found a source for upgrades like fuel pump, injectors (yeah, I know, they say fuel can be handled with programming yada), MAF, throttle body etc. I don't see much out there except for Ligtnings. Will those work with out trucks?

- No break-in period necessary, when you get it, floor it and listen to the whine!
- Colder plugs are not needed, switching would be solely up to you and whether you have a problem they would appear to fix or not.
- Not many of those type of upgrades even available for our vehicles, not to mention they'd require some additional tuning for almost everything you mentioned.

Thanks. That's what I have found for teh most part, and why I was curious as to whether Lightning products will work with ours. I plan to Dyno tune the puppy anyway, so that is not a significant issue. I know that Dynatech make steh supermaxx long tube headers and high flow cats for our trucks, and there are some easy tranny mods as well.

Yeah, I got mine in and went out and stomped on it first thing. They did send me new plugs that I haven't put in yet, but they are not colder plugs. According to the document in the box, they are whatever plugs that are being put in the trucks at the day that I sent the PCM off. In other words, if they put plug A in 2004 trucks, and plug B in 2005 trucks and changed to plug C for 2005 1/2 trucks, and I sent my PCM in at that time, then I would get plug C. If the part number had changed from the time my engine was built then I get new ones. I plan to put them in at 30K when I do my major service. Haven't tried different injectors/pump but I can tell you this. I have done a few datalogging runs myself with my X2 and here's what to expect. The fuel PSI is pretty steady at 40 psi under most circumstances but jumps to about 75 psi when you hit about 3000 rpm full throttle. Then it begins to slowly drop and level off at about 65 psi all the way to 5700 (when I let off) but the air fuel ratio stays consistently rich across the board and never is affected by this fuel PSI drop. Fuel pump duty cycle also has a steady climb all the way. Now here is what I have no clue to......is the fuel pressure dropping off because they are exceeding the flow of the pump at that high PSI or is it actually supposed to drop and level at about 65? Either way it is running strong. Here is a pic of that datalogging run from the XC2 Live Link program for reference. Yellow is the Fuel PSI and the graph indicates that, Brown is O2 sensor, Red is RPM, and Blue is fuel pump duty cycle.

Don't know. You should ask Bama chips. That's interesting. As it seems to be able to hold te PSI, I assuem that teh programming is designed that way for whatever reason. As to the plugs, what prompted them to send them to you ? Edit: io just checked out your vid--cool

They automatically send them to you when you send the PCM off for reprogramming if needed. There is a note that explains this in the kit, although you probably never saw it, it says they will give them to you if they are needed.

Thanks for the info Matt. Yeah, I never saw it as I took the boxes to the dealer unopened for the install. I wanted to make sure I didn't lose anything. Bitch of it is I was expecting the thing back today and instead i got a call saying the intake sleeve was missing in the boxes. WTF?
