Leather Steering Wheel Question

I just ordered a Black Leather Steering Wheel off Ebay with cruise/audio/climate, I don't need the audio/climate, so can I just change the buttons out from the Cruise Control Wheel I have now...???? Will that work??

I dont think that would work..if you got a lariat steering wheel they have 4 buttons on the right side of the wheel to control radio volume and seek, fan speed and temp, and 3 on the left are for the cruise control you may get it to work but I don't know how , good luck tho

The buttons can be interchanged. I don't remember the post, but I asked pretty much the same question, and ChrisAdams said it could be done. I am in the market for a tan leather wheel, but those only come in the Lariat variety, with the audio/radio controls. So I would need to swap them out.

I just did this to my truck, ordered a black leather wheel with seven buttons and put my five buttons on it. Works fine.

Saw that, and the wheels are turning to get it. Let's hope no one gets in at the end to steal it.

jmpancoast, did you paint your air bag black or was it already black... mind is flint gray, not going to buy a used air bag.... don't trust them... being in the autoglass business for over 20 years and I know from going to school on air bags, dropping them can break the propellant up in them, no way to know if a used one has been dropped....a couple mills of paint not going a make a differents on deployment

BTW..thanks for the info on switching the buttons out...

No, I didn't have to paint mine. My truck is an XL so everything in the column was already black. You may want to look at ChrisAdams' gallery. He changed wheels a couple times using one color wheel and a different color airbag and did so using a couple different color combinations. He said they looked good with the contrasting colors.

Are you still doing glass? If so, let me know where and I will bring my future business and referrals your way.

Yep, but you still have to take it in to the dealer to 'turn it on' in the PCM. 30-60 bucks. Very good cruise on these trucks.
