725 pounds in the bed?

Alright guys, I'll be honest - I haven't even attempted a search but I'm on this group nearly every day and I don't remember anything recently.

I'm about to buy a wooden playset for the kiddies. It's in several boxes but its total weight is (cough) 725 pounds. Is that going to kill my '04 Screw? I'd need to only haul it about 15 miles if it matters.

Thnx....

A J

DONT DO IT... Your truck bed will fall off...

Are you kidding, 750lb,s isn't going to do anything to your truck. Your maximum payload is more than double of 750lb's weight.

Unless you're paranoid about scratches in the bed paint (I am!) there should be no concerns about hauling such a modest load in the back of your truck....

Thats about 3 grown men.......Thats not hardly going to squat. Even though my uncle has a 05 chevy silverado and with his fourwheeler in the back (05 polaras 800) It looks like the bumper is draggin on the ground. Its horrible. At most the 4wheeler weighs 800.

I believe the payload capacity for a 4X4 screw is in the 1500 pound range, so you will be more than ok hauling it.

I just had over a ton of shingles in the bed of my truck this weekend for a short 20 minute drive. I think you are fine. Of course I am an idiot when it comes to following the weight ratings.

Thanks for the input guys; I guess I really had no idea what the total weight limit was. And I have Line-X sprayed in so scratches aren't a worry.

I've put 2 tons of rocks in the bed of my truck...not safe, and wouldn't recommend it, but I hauled it about 5 miles. That's like a car in the back. 725 you won't even know it's back there.

I hauled eighty 8' landscape timbers in the back of a friend's Ranger once...the back was so low, the mud flaps dragged the ground and were about 2" shorter when I got home. The whole way home, the front end felt like it was off the ground.

yeah, I was just about doing a wheeley! Saved myself a 100 dollar delivery charge though. Fords are suppose to be built tuff....I proved it. I've had who knows how much wood in the back. Probably pretty close to that much weight. My uncle said that these new trucks just aren't built like the old ones use to be. He's right, we went out and got wood and I had my 03 SuperCrew loaded to the max and he had his 67 Chevy loaded too, but not nearly as much as mine and he broke a spring on the way in....My truck has 50 thousand miles on it, I tow a 1500 pound trailer 80% of the time for work and it still runs strong, looks great and smokes Chevy's, Hemi's and whatever else happens to pull up beside me. Haven't raced a Titan yet, My bro-in-law has one and I think he might get me...

Like I said before...don't try that at home little boys. It's really not very smart to haul that kinda weight.

That's 3 grown men that need to order a salad and a diet Coke instead of the Triple with cheese, biggie fries, and a large Frosty.
