And BTW, maybe i do need a new muffler guy, but like i said, i didnt get my flows installed there, i am tied down to no one, i just wanted a "professionals" opinion, and he's the closest place to where i work.
Fourpointsix, i really like what you did to your truck, very clean. i am going to guess just by lookin at it your under 30, aren't you.
a buddy of mine put Magnaflows on his 65 mustang he hated them they sounded like glass packy all pop pop pop when reving it up, he went back 2 days later and stuck flowmasters on it. Sounds sexy now!!!

I knew what I was getting into going with the Flowmaster, soundwise it's great, maybe too loud, droney and poppy for some, but I like it. I am thinking of rekindling my relationship with the Maggie (it's sitting in my bed right now, truck bed) because I find myself saying "what if" after losing to those I thought I'd keep up with

I've been struggling with my new cam to take decent audio, and when I've gotten around that I'll get a better video of the exhaust. If I were you I'd look for sound clips on this specific truck before I buy. The 3 chamber on my buddy's lowered 05 Chevy 5.3L is loud and meaner than hell, his flowmaster 3 chamber screams over mine but I believe that has to do with the way our engines rev while out of gear (in neutral). Maybe someone can confirm this.

As much as i tried to spend money with him, he was adament that the magnaflow, because of there straight through design, would actually hurt my low end and help my top end, and he claims the flows because of the 3 chamber design would give more low end power gains due to increased backpressure. I really tried to spend my money with him, but he really thinks the opposite of 9 out of 10 magnaflow users here say. Im frustrated as hell. Thanks for reading my rant.

Thanks guys for all the respones....wow! Much appreciated.
I see most of you have your tips coming out behind the tires....is this recommended?
I was thinking of having mine come straight out to the rear bumper.

You can have them come out where ever you want. I did mine straight back because I figured they would stay a little cleaner that way rather than have tire mud on em all the time. If you load a trailer frequently you might want em out the sides so you dont get blasted with exhaust every time you hook up.
I just installed the 40 series last friday with SIDO.
It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too loud for my taste. Specially on the freeway.
Is there anything I can do to make it quieter besides switching mufflers? (Dynamat or something like it)

BigBlack your dog looks like he likes'em
Hey BigBlack so you like Delta 40 better than the standard Flowmaster 40 series?
I went over to the Flowmast site and listened to the sound clips.
How loud is it in the interior, cuz that is going to be my buying point, I don't want it to loud in the interior but I also want to hear growl a little bit.
Thanks buddy!

Here's an old thread with vid's i took from the inside the cab with windows up & down 0-60's with Flowmaster 40 series + airaid, i *think* this was pre-troyer tunes...not that it would effect the sound anyhow.
Maybe that'll help.

couple comments:
as for running the exhaust out the side as compared to out the back - if you go off road, i would run the exhaust out the side. if you run it out the back you run the risk of rolling down a hill and smashing your tips or even the pipes. if you don't go off road then its your choice.
as for flows reducing your low end torque - guys.... how have you come to this conclusion? time slips at the drag strip? dyno pulls? what? do you have hard data? or do you just hear the engine roar louder than it did with the stock exhuast but not see any increase in acceleration and assume you have lost torque.
i installed a magnaflow on my 70 elcamino SS last year. chose it over the flow for the sound (not as loud). the flow's chamber design should provide you with good low end torque and good high end HP (due to scaviging) but not as much high end HP as the magnaflow (becuase they are straight thru). sorry guys, but i don't buy your flows reduce low end torque story.... unless you provide me with hard data.

Dangit!!! The more I read, the more I dunno what to buy for my truck!! I think I have it narrowed down to a Magnaflow 18" or Flowmaster delta 40... Gonna be on my 05 4.6L with drop in K&N with silencer removed... Eventually tuned... I am coming to the conclusion that either way I go I will be happy with the sound and performance!!

Sick05 that is great stuff man!! Sensational!
I think I am going to go with what BigBlack has...the Flowmaster Deltaflow 40.
It's only $27 more than the Standard Flowmaster 40 series.
Like I mentioned before, I want as much silence as I can get in the interior but I want to hear a little growl...and know it's there.
This is great info you guys have provided. I appreciate it.
