Engine stall when accelerating in 06 F-150

Stange deal: Major engine "stall" at certain times when accelerating with my 06 F-150 Crew with 5.4. For example, when merging into traffic from an exit ramp after having slowed, engine will have an abvious stall when getting back in the gas? Seems to happen when accelerating from around 30MPH? This is not a slight pause, but rather a significant delay such that I worry about merging.

Feedback appreciated

My 04 does this as well.

is your fuel tank low? mine does this under sudden accelleration with little fuel, the pump is not picking up fuel and therefore no injector pressure

I had this major lag until I had the computer reflashed. The lag nearly got me killed!

My 06 does this as well. Doesn't matter if the tank if full or not and I can make it happen at any time. I'm convinced it's an issue with the stupid throttle management. If not then the factory tuning SUCKS. Hopefully my Xcal2 will resolve it for me. So far, even though I like the truck overall, the performance leaves something to be desired.

My '06 does something similiar to that. I have also thought it to be associated with the drive by wire system and have not said anything to the dealer.

When mine hesitates, it feels like it want to shift gears, but is uncertain, if I push the accelerator further when it does this, it will usually shift gears and then go.

I did that twice in one day before my dumb butt figured out I was out of gas... :o Went to pull out into traffic so I got on it kinda hard... revved up high then sputtered out... couldnt figure out why. :o

Same here. Nearly got sideswiped. Once I had the dealer re-flash and added a CAI, have had no problems. ('04 SCrew)

Do our trucks have in-tank fuel pumps? If so, you might want to be careful about running your tank too low. Some vehicles in-tank fuel pumps are actually cooled by the surrounding gas and can overheat and burn out if you run them too low.

My '05 had the same exact problem no matter how much fuel was in it. Once I put my Edge tuner on it cleared up. It's almost like the computer doesn't know what gear to use and has to think about it, and the tuner removed that issue. Maybe a reflash at the dealership will fix it too.
