Fuel Filter
Fuel Filter
I toolk my truck in to the dealership for an oil change Saturday. I had a cupon for a free oil change. They said that I needed a new fuel filter and that it was $50.00. I figured that it was a real expensive filter. When I looked at the bill, it was a $15 filter and $35 in labor. What is involved in changing the fuel filter?
It's super easy to replace. The only tool you need is a fuel line disconnect tool. Some plastic ones are a couple bucks, while there are some fancy sets that range $40+. Just disconnect it from the fuel line underneath the drivers side (keep the broken lines high to keep the gas from spilling out) and it snaps right back in. A 5 minute job. Maybe 10 minutes the first time you do it.

Just about under the drivers side door. It's about the size of a red bull can, maybe a little bigger hanging off the frame rail. It's held in place with some plastic brackets that you need to snap it out of too.
A couple guys here broke one of the clips on it, i'd run a search and read what they had to say to make sure you don't damage it. I didn't have that issue.
