2005 Lariat Wheels/Why Change?

I noticed that quite a few have changed out their Lariat wheels for aftermarket wheels. I really like the wheels on my 2005 Lariat Screw 4x4 and wonder why you changed (if you did) wheels? And if you did change what did you go to?

Simple relevance of being human, you want what you can't have.

My truck didn't come with FX4 wheels, but i wanted them so i got them.

I love my original FX4 wheels and still have them...in my garage. I just wanted some wheels that gave the truck a different look, and aftermarket wheels really change the look of a truck.

A lot of people get aftermarket wheels so they can get aftermarket tires that require a wider wheel. There arent many A/T and M/T tires made to fir the stock 7.5 inch wide rims.

Simple, there are so many F-150's driving around, and by changing to different wheels and tires you can set your truck apart from all of the other F-150's that have the same stock setup as you do.

IMO I think my stock Lariat rims look terrible. Mostly because of how many F-150's there are around with these very rims. I have never kept the stock rims on any of my cars because of the fact that I prefer to individualize my ride. Even if my truck came with 24's from the factory I would swithch them immediately because there would be other vehicles that would look much too similar to my truck. However, the 2006 20's aren't bad but again I have seen much too many of them already for my liking. Thats just me.

Originally I liked stock 18" bright silver wheels. They are not bad. But for me they just did not give the truck that extra in look that I was looking for. I am very picky about wheels and I dont like to much bling. I found a great balance in the new 2006 20" rim with the scorpion tires. I have a 2004 lariat and when I went from teh 18" wheels to the 20" not only does the truck feel much better driving but the look went up a couple of notches as well. The "look" is certainly subjective, but the ride was physical and much improved. Not to mention that the wheel and tire combo filled out the wheel wells better. Highly recommended change!

Bingo!!! We have a winner. Who wants to keep their truck stock? Most like to personalize a vehicle to suit one's taste. :santa:

I actually like the stock rims, never been much into aftermarket rims...most seem "over the top" to me. They look good but not for my personality. How's this for going out on a limb.....I bought the 05 rims with the tan accents to replace my 04 rims with all silver.

I changes my stock rims and tires mostly because of the look. But also I was tired of the vibration! Smooth driving now

Bob, I too have a '05 Lariat and while I like the design of the wheels, I can't stand the Arizona beige color in the wheels. I can't stand the beige color in the grille either. So, I'll be changing both the grille & wheels in the next few months. Ford can't put color matched door handles on the Lariat but they insist on putting Arizona beige on the wheels........sometimes I wonder what the heck the Ford design people are thinking.
