Just made a deal on a 2006 FX4

Well,

I finished my semester of school last week, which enabled me to continue on with my search of a new truck. My internet search led me to a dealership in Fairfield, Conneticut that had the truck I wanted. I did the online inquiry and got a phone call the next day. I spoke to the salesman for a week and decided to take the hour drive up there as they were offering me a great trade on my truck sight unseen (I knew it would even go higher).

Get up there, they look at the truck and asked what I was taking off and what I was leaving and they loved it! Even the owner of the dealership went out and had to hear the exhaust... []

Anyways, all said and done I am looking at 12,000 out the door on a 2006 F150 Supercrew FX4 LOADED!

A little detail, I want black leather...

We decide it was enough paperwork and go out to look at and drive the truck. I open the door and almost had a heart attack - it had flint seats. Myself and the dealer were in shock. I said, well I can tell you right now that I don't want flint leather. I drove it anyway - new body style handles great!

We get back to the dealership and we talk about the leather. He dissapears for a while and comes back with "Honestly, we ordered that truck with black interior and we don't know how we got grey ourselves". I have good news, we can do a dealer trade on a truck that is exactly like the one here with black leather. Talked numbers and it worked out.

He felt so bad that it almost didn't work out after coming all the way up there to do a deal.

Here are pics of the one there - the only difference is the truck coming in may have black steps instead of chrome.

Black Leather
Black Interior
Moonroof
Power Driver Seat
Reverse Sensors
Adjustable Pedals
Audiophile with 6 Disk indash
Power Heated Signal Mirros

Blah Blah

I pick it up next weekend. []

I am sad to be getting rid of my 2002 Harley, but happy that I get a chance to start over with something that is a bit more practical. I can't wait!

Make sure they put some center caps on those wheels.
And the one you drove had FLINT LEATHER? I wasn't aware that was an option. I thought it was just black or tan. It's not listed on Ford's website. I'd like to find a set of those take-offs on e-bay. I'd do the leather swap in an instant!

That's a great deal on a beautiful truck. I'm glad you're getting exactly what you want and know you'll enjoy it.

Hey tardman91, You can only get the flint leather on the fx4, the black and tan are on the Lariat. I think the black leather on the FX4 is sport leather. It looks different than the leather on the Lariats.

On the Ford website the only interior color choice is black.
You mean that it's just a different black? Because a friend of mine just got an 06 FX4 and his interior is black. There is no Flint leather.

He has the sport flint seats. It has perforations in the center.

Salesman called today. They got the truck in with black leather.

It has a few differences though:

Black tubular running boards instead of chrome
Has Sirius (I can use the stock antenna for mine though - no big)
Has solid rear window w/ defrost instead of power slider

Anyone else have a solid rear with defrost? How is it?

I swapped out a slider with a solid on my 02 and it was SO much better! I sat in an 05 in a dealership with a solid and it seemed cleaner without the verticle bars.

I can't wait.

Granted, I live in central Mississippi and don't really need rear defrost, but I still wish that I had rear defrost since my Explorers and Mountaineer had it. It helps with fogged up glass, but for some reason the slanted rear glass on the SUV's had a bigger problem clearing up than the rear glass on my F-150.

I think I used the rear slider in my 02 like 3 times in the 4 years I have had the truck. Granted I swapped out the slider for a solid this past summer.
