I'm not sure if there is any direct correlation between the timing adjustment and the old octane settings.
Sounds like it was just a label change. When you selected 91 octane, it advanced the timing to a default setting. With the added ability to adjust it yourself, you know exactly how much timing your running. Someone on the left coast living next to the ocean can run more timing than I can living in the desert. And of course, high altitude makes a big difference. Hopefully EDGE will put together a cheat sheet to help us adjust the timing to better suit environemental conditions, fuel and driving style. For now I will just stick with the default. I don't really want to adjust until I hear the rattle.

Exactly, I hope Edge is listening.

Ya, who knows. I'm glad I haven't done the last update yet. I think I'll let this one get figured out before I take that plunge.
Has anybody got a new version instruction manual? If not, I wonder how or if they even have one yet.

I wasn't going to do the newest update just yet either but I'm having the same problem as one of the callers had where when punching it from a coast it hits the revlimiter and Bill said that the update would fix that. Who knows?

Bill told me also it would address that problem, I don't have the problem on my truck, if I did, then I would go ahead and download the new update....

I too had the problem, I called them and they had me bump up the rev limiter. 5400 should fix the problem. My edge has my default rev limiters set at 5600 now though.

I asked asemechanic that question on the group buy thread. He said not at this time. The A2 is set up to controll the Juice on diesels like the Attitude. It's A2 for the extra stuff they added, GPS, Back up camera etc.

I downloaded the latest update.......no problems. The lightening software updates different on this version, it actually downloads a new setup.exe file.....which you need to save in the C:\Edge Products\Evolution Lightning folder. In fact I would just update the Lightening software without hooking up the monitor. After downloading, run the new setup file and it will update the Lightening software. Then you will have to open the program and attach the monitor unit and run the search for updates as you normally would.

After hearing there was a glich with the last version, I just wanted to make sure I got updated.

Thumper,
I asked about the correlation between running the 95 octance setting and the new timing feature. Bill said to go +2 on the timing and listen for detonation. I havent downloaded the update yet though.

When I talked to bill I also asked about a "cheat" sheet so newcomers, and myself would have something to go by. So it may say don't go past setting "X" or your truck will implode. He seemed like that was a big possibility.

I gotta say, never have I purchased a part, a thing doodad, 7k television, that I have gotten this kind of service with. What happened last night blew me away. I mean first the radio was cool but to take our calls and everyone else being able to hear them so we all could get an understanding is WAY,WAY,WAY WAYYYYYAAAYYYY beyond normal customer service. And since we are talking about the service from the actual manufacturer not a retailer, that is even more exciting as a customer. I am curious if they do this with the Diesel guys? Anyway, I just got to say KUDOS to Edge for what they did ,ast night and how helpfull they seem to be for veryone that has an open mind and treats them with respect.

I think as more people buy their products and added updates, the response to the talk show will be very positive. This forum is great and all, but there have been some erroneous info posted here (some by me ). With the live chat, you get it straight from the source.
