Michelins Rock!!!

I have ~15,000 miles on my truck, and on one of the crappy Continentals tires, pieces of rubber have been peeling off the sidewall. So I decided to bite the bullet, and get some new tires. Yeah, I know I probably could have gone to the dealer and taken advantage of the extended tire warranty through FoMoCo, but they'd just replace them with the same junk!

So I went down to my local Big-O, and got 4 Michelin LTX A/S tires, size 255/65/17. No big deal, no aftermarket bling-bling, but a definate improvement. From the time I drove out of their parking lot, I immediately noticed the difference. The ride is significantly quieter and smoother. I can't believe that Ford puts those piece of junk Continentals on these $35,000+ trucks! Anyway, just wanted to let what a difference it made. Michelins have never let me down, but the price was is kinda high. I paid about $750 out the door for mine, but I'm confident they'll provide many years & miles of service.

Ford has the lowest of the worst brand of tires on the F-150.....It will catch Ford pretty quick....

I have heard a lot of people say they got cheap tires with their new trucks but mine came with Michelins as original equipment. Is that unusual? ("06 btw) Maybe they are trying to stop the vibration issues?

I have the Wranglers on mine with no problems so far. Of course, I am a little picky about scheduled rotations.

My 04 STX came with the Michelin A/S tires that bamorris2 bought and with 20k mi on them there is hardly any treadwear. They ride great and the only place they fall short is in the snow, but in So Cal where he is that won't be a problem.

my 06 FX4 came with the Wrangler's. I actually like these tires. Gonna replace with the BFG all terrain 285's as soon as I recover from the tuner/intake/exhaust/levelers !!

I bought my truck in November 2003. All trucks on the lot with standard wheels seemed to have the cheap tires, but all trucks with upgraded wheels and larger size tires had the Michelins.

My 04 came with Michelins and their smooth and quiet. I had them rotated at 11000 miles and the only noticible wear is on the fronts outside edge and it's just slight wear.

Ford uses several tire manufacturers because when 3,000 tires are rolling out the door of each plant everyday, it would be difficult to go sole source.
