XCAL2/AF1: Check engine light after stock tune reloaded???

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else w/ a SCT XCAL2-AF1 combo ever had a CEL after a stock tune was reloaded. What's strange is, I had the AF1 installed on my truck w/ out a tune for a good 3k miles and no CEL. My XCAL2 came in and I uploaded my 91 perf program and was running it for a good 5k miles. Now, I switched back to my stock tune and after 10 miles or so....the CEL came on??

Any recommendations?

the AF1 is pretty well known for throwing codes, if you pull the code, chances are its a lean condition. the only remedy ive heard is to keep resetting it until it doesnt come back..

I'd encourage you to give Troyer (or your favorite tuner guy of choice) a call once you've pulled the code to discuss the issue.

call you tuner, you may not be able to use the stock tune with that intake. i know that is the case for the JLTs, the require a tune to richen the mixture at higher rpms

I read a thread where Troyer adjusted someones tune because of this same issue. Also, the AF-1 throws a code when the MAF sensor is dirty or not placed snug. Those types of CAI cause the MAF to get a thin layer of oil from the filter that could be causing the CEL. Good luck.

So, is there a difference between the original factory tune from my truck...than the copied stock tune on the XCAL2 that got reloaded???

I was running the AF1 by itself (NO TUNING) for a good 3k miles w/ out a CEL before my XCAL2 came in. Loaded up a tune still fine....reloaded teh stock tune and CEL. weird.

Will try clearing the code and putting on more miles per TP.

They work exactly like they are supposed to. It threw a lean code because it was running lean.

Stop throwing mods on unless you know what to do with the computer.

Your truck was just protesting the use of the stock tune. Its like being used to eating steak everyday to being forced to eat tofu. Give it some premium and a custom tune and it will feel better

by this argument, would could say since he had no CEL BEFORE on his stock tune, it was running fine then. then explain why now, using the same setup it is running lean.

im sure it was running lean before, but to suggest that the PCM is a perfect device....
