I have an AF1 on my 04 and had it has thrown CELs twice. When first installed a PCM reflash solved the issue and the second happened when I went from the 91 tow mode to 87 on the 1714 Superchips. I only had the problem when changing programs once, so it may have been Superchips related, but did get the lean code.

At the time I purchased the AF1, Volant could not get a intake that would not throw codes and I got tired of waiting. We have a Volant on my wife's car and it is a very nice piece and is extremely quiet. The AF1 does make more noise than stock, but it is somewhat adjustable by how deep you have the tube into the filter.

If I were to do it again, it would be a coin flip. I realize it is different applications, but the AF1 components are a little better made and fit a little better than the Volant. I like the enclosed filter of the Volant and at least in the car application, it is quiet. I do not think you can go wrong with either.

I did feel some gain with my AF1 and the sound is not a nuisance at all, it actually sounds like my engine is working rather than idling at WOT. Look in my sig for my review with pics/vids.

What???? You're not getting the Whipple supercharger are you? Or another air intake?

Drop me an email if you end up wanting to get rid of your AF1, I might be willing to give this beast a try. I could use some more sonic boom!

The AF1 doesn't always throw codes... I've got well over 4 or 5k on my AF1 with no codes.. not a one.

Additionally, some may call me the 'exception' to the rule... I don't think that's the case in the least. If it was, you'd never see one of these for sale anywhere because the vendor (no matter who it is) wouldn't want to deal with the headaches. As it stands, they're pretty readily available...

I got the AF1 from kd4crs, he had problems CEL'S and installed on my truck, not a single CEL in 2200 miles, not one even when I was running a stock program... great intake, a little loud, I love it, would'nt replace it with anythig else....

I highly recommend the AF1......!!!!!!

BTW: ordering hood insulation from the dealer did calm it down alittle, but thats not what I ordered for.. I just wanted to keep some of the heat off the paint, truck should have come with it from the factory..
