got smoked by denali

I just put the edge in my truck, level 3 with 90 octane fuel, and raced my uncles denali with the 6.0, he killed me. Right from take off. Kinda sucks.

Wow that Denali must be pretty quick - is that a gas or diesel? Also, any mods on your Uncle's Denali? I have friend here in SoCal with a Denali Surburban and it's not fast at all.....probably not the same as the truck though?

I just finally tried the 91 octane tune (Edge) this weekend and it runs very nice.....was content with the 87 tune as it was a HUGH difference over stock - but not anymore.

O ya!

I had an 03 Sierra Denali. I had both trucks for a month. Ford paid for my last months payment on the Denali, just so they could get me into this truck.

Mine had 325 horse, but this year it went up to 345.
Everytime I got into the F150, after a day driving the Denali, I wondered where's the power. LOL
Still I like the handling and style of my F150 better.

As per the owners manual, you are supposed to bump the octane rating 2 points higher than what you have in the tank.

I'm pretty sure this is what determines the timing, and the higher the octane the more advance in timing.

It might help a little.

Aren't denali's AWD? I think they are. I know a guy with a Chevrolet SS truck, which is the same drivetrain (I think). Hey has programmer, headers, and torque converter and is running 8.9x 1/8 mile times. The AWD and torque conveter gets that heavy truck off of the line like a mother. It's all in the launch.

Its a gas. No mods, all the way stock. Its the short one.

Cool, I will try that. I ran a 16.4 in the 1/4 and 8.2 0-60 with the way I raced him. No idea how accurate that is though.

Yup, sure are.

Sounds like he raced the regular yukon Denali. 6.0s arent slouches and they are all wheel drive. My wifes 5.3 05 Tahoe will smoke my F-150.

What is your truck is
5.4?
Screw or Reg Cab?
4x2 or 4x4?
3.55 rear end or 3.73 rear?

I need some more info because I thought you would see a better match between the two. I know the chevy would wooop you stock but I thought with the edge you would have had a chance. More info please???

Oh well, guess we need a supercharger to keep up with GM motors. I will give props to GM on the LS series engines, they are pure bad. Guess what, still OHV too, Im still not sold on the overhead cam stuff, atleast not when a smaller CI OHV 5.3 will beat us. Against a 6.0 we are wasting our time, we dont have a chance. The bad thing is that GM now offers the 6.0 in their trucks as a high perf engine option, the only thing we have is 5.4. Im curious to know what trans combination the GM trucks/suvs are using, because anything is better than this crappy 4spd OD trans we have, mine seems like its missing a gear. I would say we look better like I always do, but the Denali's are pretty nice looking.

I have a supercab FX4 with 5.4. 3.73 rear. Crazy huh. When my truck was stock I raced a bunch of other stock trucks like mine. We were all very close, so my truck is no slower than usual, just sucks. Oh well, its slow, but I love the thing and the edge really did help it out.

The edge isnt a miracle worker: its a canned tune just like the 1714 & u7151.

This makes me want to save the money I was going to spend on the edge and just put it towards another vehicle better suited for beating up on Hemi's, GM 6.0's, and Titans. Maybe a fox mustang project??
