5.4 sounds like a diesel

My 5.4 sounds like a diesel when I start it up in the mornings. Not as loud but you definitely can hear that type of sound. Anyone else have this prob. Take to service rep and he said his did it as well. Says some do and some don't. Just want to see if anyone else has this issue

Thanks

Mine sounded like a diesel for the first few months, but I didn't really hear it anymore before I put my magnaflow on. Maybe it's that the engine broke in, or I have just become immune to the sound.

Mine does it.. Real loud wind-up it seems in cold mornings. Sounds like a beast, but once its warmed up (pretty quickly) it goes away. Doesn't bother me.

I thought that was piston slap? My 02 used to sound like that until it warmed up. I noticed the other morning my 05 sounded similar.

Regards!

For those of you that are hearing this, what is the outside temp when you hear the noise?

I am in Colorado so it is anywhere from 20 to 50 degrees.

Mine does it as well. The outside temp doesn't matter. It does it all the time. Loud.... sounds just like a diesel.
