Edge Question

I am posting this twice, so i apologize in advance but i need an answer asap. Can i take my edge tuner out of my truck and plug it into my friends truck, tune it then put it back in my truck or does the unit have to stay in the truck it is programming. Thanks in advance

You do not have to leave it hooked up to the truck you programmed, BUT you cannot program more than one truck at a time with it (Edge are not idiots as allowing this would dramatically decrease their sales).

The only way to use it on another truck is to return yours to stock first, then you can use it on another truck. Of course to use it on your truck again you will have to return the other back to stock. In a nutsell only 1 modified truck tune at a time.

Just for FYI, you can program the pcm, then toss the programmer in the glove box if you want. I have unplugged mine and used my scanguage. got back from the trip, plugged the programmer back in.

Now from what I understand you can use it as a diagnostic tool on a truck that its not married to. I wonder if you can tune one truck then put the unit in another and use the gauges (and performance tests)?

Did the Edge improve your mileage on the trip you went on?

I got the same mileage, but to be fair, it was a real windy day, and the traffic was heavy. Not a good comparison trip. I have noticed a good 1 mpg increase in around town using the #2 program. The problem with the EDGE is the increase in throttle response, acceleration, and even the sound of the engine. Really hard to keep your foot out of it if you know what I mean.

I know that problem, but so far, I have had the same mpg, with a lot more fun.
