I had this crazy idea while i was in school but....i wanted 2 get one of these http://www.transferflow.com/html/cro...edtanks_0.html and hook it up 2 the fuel line so that the engine gets fuel from the stock tank and the tank in the bed. Now here comes the cruel part, is it possible? Can i split the fuel line and hook it up 2 both? And is it possible 2 hook up another fuel gauge 2 the tank in the bed?

Its crazy i kno, but heck, it would be really awsome to have 80 gallons of gas(30 stock + 50 in bed)!!!! Any ways thanks in advance if you know if this is possible and i incourage constructive criticism.

 

why the hell would you want that? lol that's just making you pay like 185 bucks everytime you fill up! and it'd make your gas mileage worse cause you have that much more weight!

 

I have seen this before. Its not a crazy idea either if you drive alot and dont want to fill up everyday or you have to leave your truck running alot.

 

Do you know if its hard to set up?

 

that would be easy to do. Just put a sender in the tank and wire it to a gauge in the dash. Then get an electric flow valve and put it in line. Run both fuel lines to it and switch when you need to. Cool mod if you really need the extra fuel and seems ( to me anyway) like it would real easy to do.

The electric fuel flow valve can prolly be found at any auto parts store. But in my experience, since i'm in the marine business, if you cant find one, go to your local marina or marine supplu store and Im sure they can hook you up with one. Or what about a stock setup from a F250 with dual tanks???

The sender and the gauge can also be found at any parts store. You can get a universal sender, that you cut your self to fit the tank. I'm sure this will be real easy to find parts for and do the install. Maybe even get a pillar mount pod and put the fuel gauge in that.

Why would I WANT TO MAKE MY GAS MILEAGE WORSE! I already get 12! eeekk...

 

I called these guys back when the hurricanes hit Louisiana and the gas was short, it was my understanding that they sell only to dealers and they really want you to let the dealer install it, which of course is extra, but you have the liability of screwing up a pressurized system that has auto transfer features that you could screw up im sure it voids the warranty if you dont get it pro-installed. But i think they are great. If all you want it a extra tank you get get a good wlding shop to make you one and air test it. 8 " deep from front of bed back, would give you alot of extra gas without having all your space used up, since the beds are so deep on these trucks. go to a farm supply store and and get a hand or electric transfer pump with a 1.5 " nozzle and wire the pump(if electric)to your battery Prolly do it yourself for 1/2 price plus save the installation.

 

Thats a good idea, but im really no where near a mechanic so the dealer dose sound like a better choice.

 

That contraption would not be good for a guy like me that gets shot at all of the time…that would be too much of a target and too much of a fireball…
