A/C stops working when the car is at idle

It started the very next morning after I took delivery. What happens is the A/C “clicks” off and just blows out hot air. What I mean by “clicks” is that you actually hear the compressor click. Then the hot air starts to blow. I also noticed that if I’m on the brake (at a stoplight for instance) the pedal will travel as if it lost some pressure. Not all the way down but enough to notice.

If I rev the engine or start accelerating and it returns to normal. Seems to happen most often when I spend a decent amount of time rolling at slow speeds (traffic, stopped at an intersection, etc.)

My truck was purchased in September and, being in Miami, it’s real hot. It happened a lot. Now during the winter months it has behaved itself (happened only once or twice) but I fully expect it to come back.

I did take it back to the dealer and they checked system pressure and other diags and said the system was fine. Their explanation was that the truck is going through its “break in” stage.

Anyone else have this problem?

I think they blew some smoke up your backside. Mine never shuts off at idle. Tell them to prove it on another truck sitting on the lot.

Got the truck from Maroone Ford and brought it back to them to check the problem.
