I say go with black. I had the same battle with my white Lariat. I thought chrome would match the truck better, but I didnt really want the running boards to stand out much. So I decided to go with black....it blends in with the underside of the truck, so it doesnt really stand out. To me chrome running boards make a truck appear lower to the ground. Plus, you dont have much chrome on your truck either.

Go with black!

Since you have no chrome on the outside of your truck, I'd go with Black!

Depends on what look you want. I thought about going all black on mine, but black accessories jsut don't hold up in wisconsin. I have never seen black step bars that aren't rusting or the black coming off after a year of use around here. Plus sometimes at dusk or low light conditions I see trucks that have black mods on it that can't even be seen. A little chrome goes a long way.
I did have one buddy take his black stepbars and get them rhino lined (only option then). That turned out pretty sweet, and he didn't have to worry about rust then. I vote for chrome plated stainless, as always. Good looking truck by the way.

Since you don't have chrome bumpers I'd go with black.

I have an 04 true blue/dsg FX4 and went with the Ford black bars. I think the black integrate with the truck better than chrome. So far, even with alot of snow and the guk (sand, rock and chemicals) they put on top of it no chips or damage to the bars. Did add a set of moulded mud guards as the snow built up on the bars and the guards keep it off the step area.

Since you dont have much chrome on the truck to begin with, I would say go with a black finish.

I'd get black because you don't have chrome bumpers!

yha, it is a tough decision. i went black cause i have the stainless package and didn't want too much chrome. especially if i go with chrome wheels in the future. they're westin powder coated stainless. i believe there are much better coatings than powder, but these will not rust. i've already got a couple big stones off em, and they will chip, but wont rust. just need to put on some mudflaps soon.
here's a dirty pic i just took...

silver f150 chrome or black nerf bars?

Not trying to steal your thread but I have a similar question

I also need some nerf bars my wife is too short and having a hard time getting in my truck.

I have a silver 2006 xlt supercab that has chrome bumpers. and chrome wheels

I am also considering a front end brush guard. so give me your ideas on black or chrome for that also.
