2005 Lariat Wood Steering Wheel Pictures - Opinions Wanted!
Hey 928gt,
Does this look like the woodcorp wheel? What are your thoughts on this wheel? I'm worried the horizontal lines of the wood grain wouldn't look right against the vertical lines in the dash.
I'm also begining to think the wood on that steering wheel is darker than mine. Thoughts?
I also wonder if this one has the finger "notches" or bumps on the back of the steering wheel. It's hard to get a response from this guy about it.
I think I can get ahold of this one for $150 which would save me $100 from buying it from WoodCorp. However I just want to make sure they'd have the same thing.

Duke, I think it would look good in your interior. I understand your concern about the grain of the wood on the steering wheel and dash going in different directions, but you won't even notice that once its on. I think it would look more weird if the wood grain on the steering wheel was vertical.
Another option to consider if you are looking for the two-tone effect is to save some $$$ and go with wheelskins. I am planning on getting one for my truck, and it looks stock. You can get them for around $35-40, and you would have your two tone steering wheel and an extra $100+ in your pocket.
Plus, I think having a leather steering wheel is more comfortable than wood. The wood is cold and hard and can get a little uncomfortable on your hands on long trips. The wheelskins make your steering wheel feel a bit bigger and more "cushiony" without feeling cheap.

hmm, this one is a tough call. I could always buy it and see how I feel about it, once it's in the truck. Then sell it to someone on here if it doesn't strike my fancy.
Anyone know how hard it is to install one of these?

I can't tell if it is a Wood Corp wheel and I agree with you about the "grain issue"
Here is a pic of one of the wood wheels form Wood Corp.

Mine does, and I assume the other Wood Corp wheels do also, you can always call them and have them confirm.
>I think I can get ahold of this one for $150
>which would save me $100 from buying it from WoodCorp.
Cool, great deal.
>I was kind of thinking the same thing. I'm wondering how comfortable that would be on long drives.
VERY!!!

Mine feels so good that I have to catch myself from driving with my hand on the "wood" area (mine is wood with titanium finish).
It is also NOT slippery at all.

Hey 928gt,
Did you ever hear back from woodcorp on when they plan on making one that matches the zebra wood grain?
This one looks identical to the ones made by woodcorp, but then again if they've said they don't have any zebra wood grain steering wheels, then it couldn't be.
I wonder if the reason the grain is horizontal instead of vertical is because it would probably look silly with vertical black wood grain lines on the wheel. Can you kind of picture what I'm talking about?
Of course that would mean that I'd need to replace all the stock wood grain in the truck. I want to stay away from a "Burlwood" finish as that is what I had in my last Infiniti and didn't really like the dark Burlwood finish.
What do you think? You've got a great eye for customizing interiors.
Go with this one or order a different style wood from wood corp and go with their steering wheel and wood kit?
FYI, I also plan on doing the part around the window controls on all four doors. I'm staying away from the shifter right now, as I think I'd like it better if it went all the way back under the leather arm rest.
Thanks again,
Duke

Wood Corp has a few of those.
I went on to www.woodcorp.com and they didn't have any pics of the wheels. They also referred me to an authorized dealer...
Am I looking at the right web site? I love the carbon fiber match to the FX4.
Let me know where I might be able to get one and for how much? Also, who would be able to do the install or is it pretty foolproof...
Thanx

This guy is telling me it's an exact match that he installs at Ford dealerships. However, I'm going to give woodcorp a call and see what they say in terms of when and if they will have one out.

Duke,
>This guy is telling me it's an exact match that he installs at Ford dealerships.
Pretty simple, have him send you an e-mail guarranting that it matches and that he will refund 100% of your costs if it doesn't. This way you have nothing to lose.

Hey I just found these two pictures of the 04 and 05 tan interior. Is the 05 the darker one?
I have an 05 and this steering wheel leather almost looks like it matches the 04 more. Could it be the wrong color leather?
Is this the 04:?
Is this the 05:?
Which one do you think this matches?

My 2005 interior for reference:

What do you guys think?
