Mud tires ride like crap and are noisy. Don't waste your time trying to make your 4x2 an offroad machine. Get some nice performance street tires and enjoy the improved handling and ride. OR for a compromise get some Bridgestone Dueler ATs or BFGoodrich ATs. Muds don't belong on a 4x2.
Even though I disagree with it being your truck let me help you out
As for 4wd going where 2wd can't thats just not always true. With a good mud tire you will be amazed what you can get in and out of. The trick is running it slow and letting the tires really work. When you start spinning you will be well up a creek with out a paddle. Also, when you have 2wd when you do get stuck it will be a bad stuck that you will be able to brag about for a while.
If you want the nastiest (in a good way) most knarly mud tires that are inexpensive you simply can't beat a super swamper TSL. I had the biased ply ones on my last rig for trail rides and it was great. One the highway though it would literally drift all over the road it was fun and the were mean in the mud. I just looked though and they havn't caught up with thr bigger wheel sizes we have today. The next tire, which is a little expensive, is the Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip. I know two people who have run these and they lasted an incredible amount of mile, we're talking 50-60k which for a mud tire is GREAT.
Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip
The next thing I would suggest is going to a local tractor supply store and ask for there cheap mud tires. Sometimes they have some in the 150 - 200 range.
Good luck, Those PJ tires are a really good tire for what you want. and the 33 x 12.5 would look good on your rig.
edit: If you want a good all around tire. I have had the Bridgestone Dueller Revo's This is the best tire I have ever had on a vehicle...PERIOD... I also took they out on a trail day when it was frozen and cold. I aired them down to 15 PSI and I was AMAZED by what they could do. I mean I had people with lockers having a tough time in the same terrain I was in with a limited slip. The Revo is inexpensive for what you get. If they sold them in 18's I would have literally bought my truck and replaced the stockers with Revo's the same day, thats how much I liked them.
