New 2005/Build Date June 05/Would You Be Afraid To Buy?

I have located a new 2005 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4, nicely equipped, and I can get it for $32,000 (sticker price is $42,090). I am wondering why a truck built in June has not sold yet. I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

I haven't done a lot research lately, but $32K seems like too much for that truck in today's market.

That is WAY overpriced for a 2005 when it's already 2006. Seriously unrealistic expectations if they plan on selling it for that price.

I have an 2005 F150 Lariat SuperCrew 4x4 with every option available that I bought in MAY 2005. Sticker was $44,000 and I paid $33,500.

Sounds overpriced to me. Especially on the day Ford is going to announce major problems and cutbacks.

As far as build date goes, I think you either get a bad or a good one, I really don't think build dates have much to do with it.

I was fortunate enough to buy my truck before the employee pricing. So I was able to spend a few thousand on the exact same truck as everyone else got. THANK YOU FORD....but to put in reference, my truck stickered for 42 and I bought mine January 14th 2005 for 37,500..it hurts to even type that. But thats still 5,500 more than what your being offered. I wish mine had been 32k.

Duke,
You paid 10500 less than sticker, he's being offered 10090 less than sticker. Sounds like about the same deal you got. Is that really overpriced?

BOBS,
Sounds like a good deal to me. Doesnt matter when built or what year is on the sticker, warranty starts from day you buy it, and money is money. Go for it, you'll be glad you did.

And don't anyone give me that resale cr@p about 06 vs. 05, mileage is much more important.

but its an 05 though. It should be a lot cheeper to buy an 05 now then it is an 06. It's way over priced for a 2005

That Price Includes The Following Accessories & Why Hasn't Truck Sold Yet?

Leer Boxtop hard tonneau cover, chrome nerf bars, and a Bedrug. I figured that is about $2000 extra for these items. I am also wondering why a truck built in June has not sold yet. I think it is a good deal. I live on the west coast (Seattle area). GO SEAHAWKS!

Bought my 05 screw the middle of December. Same thing, to many options and the dealership had a hard time moving it until year end rebates and friends and family pricing. Stickered for $42,6??.00 and when the smoke cleared it was something like $30,900.00.

They might come down a little more or even throw in some freebie oil changes or something. Either way it's better pricing than earlier in the year.

I could probably do better. Then again, I work in the Fleet/Internet Dept. Sounds like too much to me. We sell any remaining '05's usually for invoice less rebates, just to get them out of here.

My truck was on the lot a while too, build date was 11/17/04 and I bought it 3/16/05. It has been a great truck and i love it. I guess it was just waiting for me, as it was almost the perfectly optioned truck for me. If it drives out nice, then i would not worry about how long it has been on the lot.

Well I think it's a bit overpriced considering we're moving into 06 now. HOWEVER, considering he has all those accessories thrown in, in might weight more towards favorable to make up for the depreciation.

However, I would still push on the price or financing. Stillwater Ford in Minnesota is doing the same rebates I got plus 72mths 0% financing. That is an unreal deal on financing so I'd be inclined to push a little more; especially if it's been on the lot and it's embarassing to a dealership to still have last years model in the second month of the next year.

I wouldn't be too worried on the build date being in June. Chances are it didn't see the lot for a couple months after that time.

I'd be sure to test drive it a couple times under different conditions. There is a chance people come close to buying it and realize it has the rear end clunk on acceleration or a vibration going down the highway; like a lot of people have complained about as of late.
