extang full tilt tonneau with bedliner problem.

i just got the extang full tilt tonneau cover and it works pretty good. only problem is that i can fully latch the cover. the two latches on the sides dont close all the way. i think that the ford bedliner is blocking it from closing. does anyone have this tonneau and a ford drop in bed liner and figured out how to close the latches all the way?

I have the full tilt but don't have the drop in. Did you get a set of extra washers with the cover? I think they mention something about adding washers to get the latches lower so they clear. I don't have my directions handy for it, but take another look at yours.

Do the latches go under at all? I'd think if you can get the short one under you may need to trim the longer one. One of them under there should be enough to hold it down, but keep your eye on it as you increase speed. If you don't get it figured out here's an address for a customer service rep at extang. Mike Camron <mike@extang.com> He was very helpful getting me a replacement cover.

yes the latches are in the right position, under the rail. but when i turn them to close the latch, it doesn turn all the way. the instructions say that the latch should be parallel to the bed rails (step #12 in the instruction booklet). mine barely turn and it seems that im not latching it secure enough. i will post pics tomorrow, im not explaining myself well.

I have the full-tilt snapless version and mine did the same thing. I used a Dremel and notched out where the handle hits the bedliner and made the notch long enough so the handle "locks" completely, about 3" long x 3/4" tall. No problems now.

here is a picture of my latch. this is as far as i can turn it before it hits the side of the bedrail. the instructions say that the latch should be parellel with the bedrail. i even cut the bedliner.

That's insane. The pic better explains it. I can get both of the latches under there. I'd say if you don't want to cut anymore of the bedliner then remove the two hex nuts that hold the latch in the frame rail. Put a washer or two in there and see if that gives you enough clearance for the short part to go past perpendicular to the siderail. If you can go past perpendicular then the longer latch will also slide under. I know they say to keep the longer one parallel, but I feel more comfortable with both of them under the frame rail. That should work IF those two hex hut bolts are long enough you might need longer bolts.

I'm assuming the bedliner drops straight down along the side of the bed, if so adding the extra plastic washer on the upright bolt won't work like I mentioned before.

i called extang and they are no help. they say that its fine. someone please post some pictures of their latches closed so i can send them to extang.. it fits kinda tight underneath the rail, but doesnt close all the way. what is the size of the bolts you have? mine are about 1 1/2 " long...i really like this cover and i want to make sure i have it latched right and it wont fly off.
