Whine at high rpm...Normal?

Whine at high rpm...Normal?
I have an '05 FX4 and notice that the engine whines at high rpm...just before it shifts into second. Sounds pretty cool...but is this normal?

Yep, it's like a very quiet and in my opinion (more powerful sounding) whine than a supercharger.

You might check the backseat... your wife/girlfriend/daughter may be back there.
