Interior drone vs. Exterior volume

I have a Magnaflow si/do and I like the fact that it is very quiet inside unless I just mash it to the floor. It sounds like the meanest thing on the street inside. However, I don't like it how it can barely be heard over the engine working and the tires when standing on the outside. I also like the Magnaflow b/c I read in a truck mag that it was the only exhaust for our trucks that did not cause low end loss and the only one that actually showed any kind of low end gain (don't remember what mag that was in b/c it was like a year ago). I had a Flowmaster original 40 on my 98 Ranger I had before I got this truck and it was completely annoying to ride in after I had it for a while. Even with 2 RF HE2 12's with 500 watts bridged strapped to them (which were only used 6months and are for sale- $400 paid over $1500) and all Alpine components about busting out my back glass, it was still annoying. Plus, I lost all low end! Since I've rambled, I'm wondering what exhausts you guys have that aren't loud inside at cruising speeds but can turn heads outside without being too obnoxious and without losing low end? Thanks in advance!

Try switching to the 14" Magnaflow muffler.

I now have Flowmaster 30 series, single chamber. And you thought yours are loud?...and you thought you lost low end?...give me a break

But I do hear ya on how loud the magnaflows are. Thats why I traded up, I think I'm going back.

What will be the difference between my 5x18" (same muffler they sell with the systems) and the 14"? Keep coming with opinions too!

The 14" should be louder and deeper. My cousin has the 14" dumped on his truck with the 4.6L and it sounds great. Very loud outside. 5.4Ls are quieter than 4.6s but you should still get some decent volume over your current setup.

GAFX4, I'm trying to decide between a magnaflow 5x8x14" and 18" muffler. I don't want cabin drone since it's my daily driver, but I also don't want it to sound close to stock. I am going to have the exhaust come out in front of the passanger tire. Sounds like we're in the same boat. I hope more comments come forth.
