Ford F150 Led 3rd Brake
I'm pretty sure the shop didn't use the spray paint stuff on my lights. Plus they put a few layers of clear coat on them too to protect the smoke finish and they look nice and shiny too.
so if you go with the can stuff, then make sure you get some clear coat too, or take them them to a body shop and have them clear coat them.

I smoked my lights myself by mixing a little bit of black basecoat in with a bunch of clear basecoat to get a slightly darkened clear. Then spray that on in light coats until you get the tint right, and then clear over that. The lights look awsome, I sprayed until they were shaded, but you can still see the red plastic and the reverse light from the outside, so light output is not cut down that much. And the best things is, the lights look like GLASS with the clear on them!
Hey scorpio, I noticed your sig. GO STEELERS!

I just made some LED tail lights for my golf cart and was contemplating doing my third brake light on my truck too. I want to get another light so that I dont have to worry about wrecking mine. Here are some pics if the lights I made for my cart:
Running lights:
Brake/Turn:
Both:
I used some hyper bright LEDs (9000mcd) and they came out great I think.

You can also get a tint film to put on them. I bought the film on ebay for $50 that way if I ever decide to I dont want it anymore I can just peel it off. Pics in gallery.

My only concern is that there is issues with the OEM 3rd brake light leaking...if the fit on these is any less than perfect OEM I think it might be hard to get a good seal between them and the cab. Other than that I would love to have one!

If I could just figure out how to upload a picture. I have the LED 3rd brake light. It installed perfect in 3 minutes. The seal is the same as the stock or you can switch it and use the stock seal. The first link is to my album which will be updated soon.

Thanks,

Somewhat related question. If one of you can go check to see if you're tail lights are chipped on the edges, small chunks of the see-thru plastic are broke and it allows water to get inside. I have absolutely no idea how this could have happened unless it was the day my tailgate fell off
