another tire question

I have a 04 XTL 4x2 and I have 18 inch American Eagle 187s and I am currently running 275/65/r18. Well its time for new tires and I am wondering how bigger tires will fit. Maybe285s or 295s. How big can I go before I get to big? I have a 2 in leveling kit that is going on at the same time. I am planning on getting nittos
Thanks for your help

I believe most are going with 325/60-18 on factory wheel with little rub on the control arms. or the other option would be 285/65-18 bfgoodrich A/T ko. There is some more info also on the wheel/tires forum.

I'm getting ready to have the same "problem" trying to decide what tire and size... like should I keep the factory lariat wheels and find a good tire or go aftermarket wheel and tire. In the end, it's all about the money...

isnt 325/60-18 the same as 35"? i have heard of some going with 35s on a 2 in leveling kit that have a little rub. its mostly about the backspacing when it rubs. What kind of backspacing do those AE187s have?? If you want to be safe I would go with 1 size down (around 33s). 33s is still a good jump from 285/65-18.

I went with aftermarket wheels at first and the backspacing was wrong so I kept getting really hard rubbing on turns(annoying). I ended up with 33 Toyo on the factory wheel and am very pleased after 4000 miles so far. The look is really clean and tough in a stock form.

I am not sure about how the backspacing works. All I can say is the wheels sit out about 2 inches farther than stock. Making it appear to be wider.

325/60-18 tires are actually 33's.

(((325mmx.60)x2)/25.4mm)+18in=33.35in
