Inspection not so good with edge!

Alright well i installed the 2.5leveling kit the other night and took it in to get re-aligned and inspected since its time. I have the edge programmer as you know.Well i decided to put it back to stock and took it down. They worked on it all day re-aligning, cutting rotors but it wouldnt pass emissions. So i turned it back to level 2 towing like they wanted. It ended up passing 8 out of 10 emissions. They say i need to drive it more so the codes will be reporgrammed!! What is going on here??

Why didn't you just tune it back to stock for emissions?

I tuned it to stock the night before i dropped it off. When they hooked their computer up to it...no codes showed up?? So they suggested putting it back to the tune i've had on. They drove it around for awhile and i guess more codes worked! I dunno. Something doesnt seem right.

Thump, i am curious too about the drive cycle. How long do you have to drive it around. I agree he should have disconnected the battery to reset the pcm.
Any info would be great

It probably had a P1000 code showing. A P1000 means that the vehicle has not completed a "drive cycle" readiness test since the last time power was interrupted to the PCM. This code will show when either the PCM is reflashed or the battery is disconnected. What the emissions computer is doing is checking for service codes and if it shows this one it probably thinks the codes were cleared in order to pass the emissions test. I am not sure what is considered a drive cycle but I think its a "cold to operating temp" drive??? Maybe it takes more than one drive cycle to get rid of the p1000 code???

Another reason you shouldn't purchase the Edge

Ford left out the most important part. Before each step you you must ask "mother, may I?".

Good grief.

Last time I took my wife's truck in for emmissions I asked the operator what they considered was a drive cycle and they told me about 30 minutes of regular driving usually got past drive cycle issues. I would suggest that if you have a tuner (I have an Edge) that you put it back to stock the day before or more if you don't drive far and let it run through multiple days of normal driving. As long as you don't have the check engine light on it will pass.

At least in my state.. Connecticut..

You have got to be kidding me.....you have to go through all this crap just to complete the drive cycle and to reset the PCM?
