05 windshield noise

a couple weeks ago i asked if any one had a whistling or air noise from the top of the windshield. it finally got warm enough here to put some black rtv sealant on the area and today it was cold enough (15 deg) to hear the results.

at the top of the glass there is a piece of black plastic that has a gap between it and the glass. there i ran 2 pieces of tape about an 1/8 inch between and filled that gap. one piece of the tape on the plastic and the other on the glass.

after that dried i put a piece of tape on the plastic and another on the metal above the window and filled the gap. with it neatly done it isnt at all noticeable.

like i said it was cold this morning and i would have had to turn the radio way up to compensate for the whistle and air noise. if you got this going on in your truck its definetly worth doing.

i try to stay as far from the dealers as possible!!!!!!!!!! even the best ones suck.

in reading what others wrote when i did a search it does not seem they got much satisfaction.

it was never leaking water. and i think most of the whistle and noise was from the gap between the glass and the plastic strip. i also did not mentionthat i have a bug shield on the hood. fron the search i did that was the first thing the dealer blamed it on and the posters said it did not matter on or off it still did it.
