latest cam specs i have found

176/199@50 with 410 Int/Exh lift

no overlap spec. but this is reasonable considering the rpm band of these things.

it also explains the huge power gains that reground cams are making.

I read an article on 5.0Mustangs about the new three valve heads. They went on to say that the valve terrain and cylinder heads are exactly the same on the 5.4 F150 and the 4.6 Mustang. The difference in TQ and HP figures has to do with the VCT.
Not knowing how these things are degreed from the factory, although they are probably set in straight up. I believe that the VCT is controlled by the cam phasers, and am pretty sure that they are controlled mechanically not electronically.

I've been looking into head/cam swaps and things we can do to squeeze out more HP..

Just not many options out there... with all this fancy engine management crap out now, it harder.

exactly what i have been telling you guys.

i have had my 5.4 3v torn apart.

a spool shifts and directs oil to two passages. the default passage is full advance. when to controller pulses the solenoid it shifts the spool more and more until enough oil is directed to the phasers to retard the cams. it is monitored. i am waiting for the first dyno run i do. your intake can be modded for top end. i did mine. i also have headers on mine. no other controls. mine is all 96 PCM. if the dyno shows a torque curve that is still all bottom end, i will retard it 8 degrees. i suspect these cams are advanced more than the cars. these heads flow more than enough to support high rpm power. we aren't limited like 5.4 2v. there is plenty there. i run like hell to 5500. it could be the intake, but i think the cam can be retarded. what you guys need to do is get a programmer that truly retards youre cams. big
hp gains are righ there. just phaser changes.

is anybody listening. no need to complain, find out if the SCT power programmer will work for you. if so retard those cams.

there is an advantage to the current cam schedule. when you do retard it you still have more bottom end than the mustang.
