Quick couple questions about my Edge programmer I got today. I installed the Level 3 tune and when I went into modify the tire size I checked the ratio and it was set at 3.73 and mine is 3.55. From reading the manual it says if your ratio is stock you don't need to adjust anything...well obviously I need to adjust this. My question is is this the default setting on all units or does this vary based on what it learned from downloading your factory tune? If so it seems there maybe something wrong (why would it read 3.73 if I have 3.55s?) If its a default setting then cool I fixed it and all is good. I think its a default setting because the tire size seems like it was way off too. Sorry if this has been covered but I did attempt to search and couldnt ever find a clear answer. Also when I go to a level 2 Tune will I need to set these again or can I just do the "use previous settings" option? In other words does it cross tunes or do you have to set it for each one?

BTW the Edge ROCKS....it looks great and it made a huge seat of the pants difference!!! I can actually break my tires loose now, and thats saying something!!!

 

Not sure.....but mine too also shows a 3.73 ratio when I have a 3.55 and the tire size shows 2926 when mine are really 2546...I do know that if you adjust the gear ratio and not the tire size your speedo will be way off..Hope that helps...I too couldn't find a good answer

 

I think the EDGE Evolution pulls those figures from the stock PCM settings. Mine had that same goofy 2926 tire size. I corrected the tire size and that helped the tranny shift points when I tried the level one tune. The 3.73 axle ratio was correct for my truck.

 

I had the same tire size in mine...so I guess its normal. I corrected both and the speedo is dead on.


On a side note I did the tire size equation based on sidewall markings that came with the manual as well as the actual measured length and they were not nearly the same. So I went with the measured length.

 

Mine was the same way. It came up 3.73 but I actually have 3.55. I changed it and all seems good now. Yes, You have to change it in every tune level that you use. Once you do that, you can go back to load previous settings.

 

yes...you need to make sure your axle ratio is correct and your tire size in mm is correct.

 

do you guys have this problem?....when you adjust something and change...say the tire size,then go back to it later,is it right back where it was to start....or is it on the setting that you changed it to.like i change my tire size to 2633,then the very next time i go to look at my tire size again,its back up to 29XX.is this the same for everyone else.i dont like this because it means i have to remeber or write down the previous settings when im trying to tune it in.

 

Select load previous settings and it will display what you put in before.

I would always go with the actual measurement versus the calculated size if possible. My calculated size was 2478mm, my measured size is 2527mm. 49mm difference. That goofy 2926mm tire size works out to be a 36.6" diameter tire. I wonder where that figure comes from?

 

Interesting... my 255/70/17s where about 2476 calculated and 2400 actual. But seriously, though, a 1.9% variation is not that big a deal. Go ahead and use the calculations if you don't want to have to pull out the tape measure, chalk, and go out looking for a suitable flat surface.

 

That weird tire size showed up in mine. I noticed everyone passing me on the freeway. I pulled out my GPS. It took 80 on the spedo for the GPS to show 65. Played with it a bit & everythings back to normal, verified by GPS.
