AUX button on '06 Screw XLT
AUX button on '06 Screw XLT
Hello, Im a newbie so please bear with me.
I got a new '06 Screw XLT from the North Pole this year.
I have the standard stereo with CD, no sub. Question: Does the AUX button on the stereo support an Ipod harness kit. I asked the guys at Circuit City if I could wire the ipod to the stereo, and if that was what the AUX button on the face was for. They said,"idono, have to check the back of the unit to see." I'd rather know in advance before they go hanking it out. Thanks for your response.

they make a PIE adapter for the back of our head units. then when you hit AUX on the head unit it switches over to the iPod... they're running around 75-100 bucks and you can install yourself if you're handy. do a search on PIE adapter for our 04-06 F-150s and youll get more info than you can handle...
Cotton - welcome to the sight and congrats on your Christmas present.....very nice indeed
Try www.logjamelectronics.com for the PIE adapter. The adapter takes the place of one of the factory plugs in the back of the head unit - then the factory plug goes into the back of the PIE plug. You only need to remove the center stack faceplate and should be able to easily reach underneath the radio and get to the plugs on the back side. The PIE will have two normal RCA (female) jacks....you will need to get a "mini Y" adapter to plug into your IPod.....depending on where you want to mount the IPod is how long the mini Y adapter needs to be. Also, be sure to eaqualize the line level of the PIE adapter with your other audio.....play a CD then switch over to the IPod and see how the volume compares....it is adjustable by turning the adjuster screw in the PIE adapter unit...should be about the same level when switching between the two sources....good luck and this really is something you can do yourself with minimal effort....worst part is prying off the center stack face plate - seems like it's just about to break before it finally snaps out of the clips!
